إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنفَطَرَتْ۝١

1When the heaven becomes cleft asunder,

وَإِذَا ٱلْكَوَاكِبُ ٱنتَثَرَتْ۝٢

2And when the stars become dispersed,

وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ۝٣

3And when the seas are made to flow forth,

وَإِذَا ٱلْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ۝٤

4And when the graves are laid open,

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ۝٥

5Every soul shall know what it has sent before and held back.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ ٱلْكَرِيمِ۝٦

6O man! what has beguiled you from your Lord, the Gracious one,

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّىٰكَ فَعَدَلَكَ۝٧

7Who created you, then made you complete, then made you symmetrical?

فِىٓ أَىِّ صُورَةٍ مَّا شَآءَ رَكَّبَكَ۝٨

8Into whatever form He pleased He constituted you.

كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِٱلدِّينِ۝٩

9Nay! but you give the lie to the judgment day,

وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَٰفِظِينَ۝١٠

10And most surely there are keepers over you

كِرَامًا كَٰتِبِينَ۝١١

11Honorable recorders,

يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ۝١٢

12They know what you do.

إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ۝١٣

13Most surely the righteous are in bliss,

وَإِنَّ ٱلْفُجَّارَ لَفِى جَحِيمٍ۝١٤

14And most surely the wicked are in burning fire,

يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ۝١٥

15They shall enter it on the day of judgment.

وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَآئِبِينَ۝١٦

16And they shall by no means be absent from it.

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ۝١٧

17And what will make you realize what the day of judgment is?

ثُمَّ مَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ۝١٨

18Again, what will make you realize what the day of judgment is?

يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِّنَفْسٍ شَيْـًٔا ۖ وَٱلْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلَّهِ۝١٩

19The day on which no soul shall control anything for (another) soul; and the command on that day shall be entirely Allah's.
