إِذَا ٱلشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ۝١

1When the sun is covered,

وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتْ۝٢

2And when the stars darken,

وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ۝٣

3And when the mountains are made to pass away,

وَإِذَا ٱلْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ۝٤

4And when the camels are left untended,

وَإِذَا ٱلْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ۝٥

5And when the wild animals are made to go forth,

وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ۝٦

6And when the seas are set on fire,

وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ۝٧

7And when souls are united,

وَإِذَا ٱلْمَوْءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتْ۝٨

8And when the female infant buried alive is asked

بِأَىِّ ذَنۢبٍ قُتِلَتْ۝٩

9For what sin she was killed,

وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ۝١٠

10And when the books are spread,

وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتْ۝١١

11And when the heaven has its covering removed,

وَإِذَا ٱلْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ۝١٢

12And when the hell is kindled up,

وَإِذَا ٱلْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ۝١٣

13And when the garden is brought nigh,

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّآ أَحْضَرَتْ۝١٤

14Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared.

فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلْخُنَّسِ۝١٥

15But nay! I swear by the stars,

ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْكُنَّسِ۝١٦

16That run their course (and) hide themselves,

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ۝١٧

17And the night when it departs,

وَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ۝١٨

18And the morning when it brightens,

إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ۝١٩

19Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger,

ذِى قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِى ٱلْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ۝٢٠

20The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion,

مُّطَاعٍ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍ۝٢١

21One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust.

وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجْنُونٍ۝٢٢

22And your companion is not gone mad.

وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْمُبِينِ۝٢٣

23And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon.

وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍ۝٢٤

24Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer.

وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَٰنٍ رَّجِيمٍ۝٢٥

25Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan,

فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ۝٢٦

26Whither then will you go?

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَٰلَمِينَ۝٢٧

27It is naught but a reminder for the nations,

لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَسْتَقِيمَ۝٢٨

28For him among you who pleases to go straight.

وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ۝٢٩

29And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds.
