Elucidation: "La-ya'tiyanna al-amru": that is, knowledge and whatever pertains to the affairs of creation comes and descends into our breasts. It is also possible to read "al-amra" in the accusative, in which case the subject pronoun refers to "every one of the people", or to anyone who seeks the explanation of something.

Basa'ir al-Darajat: Muhammad b. Muslim related from Imam al-Baqir, peace be upon him: I heard him saying: Truth and the right way are with no one, and no one judges by the truth, unless its key is 'Ali b. Abi Talib. When matters become confused for people, the error and the mistake are from themselves and the truth is from 'Ali, peace be upon him.

Basa'ir al-Darajat: Muhammad b. Muslim related the like of the hadith above.

Basa'ir al-Darajat: Muhammad b. Muslim said: I heard Imam al-Baqir, peace be upon him, saying: Knowledge, truth and legal rulings are with no one unless he has taken them from 'Ali b. Abi Talib and from us, the People of the House. There is no judgement according to truth and the right way unless its beginning, its key, its cause and its knowledge are from 'Ali b. Abi Talib and from us, the People of the House. When matters become confused for people they resort to analogy and act upon opinion, and the mistake is from themselves — that is, when they resort to analogy; and the right is when they have followed the traces of 'Ali, peace be upon him.

Al-Mahasin: Abu Ishaq al-Nahwi says: I heard Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, saying: God, exalted, disciplined His Prophet upon His own love. So He said: "And indeed you are of a mighty character!" And He said: "And whatever the Messenger gives you, take it; and whatever he forbids you, abstain from it." And He said: "Whoever obeys the Messenger has obeyed God." Truly the Messenger of God, may God bless him and his family, entrusted it to 'Ali b. Abi Talib and made him his trustee; and you submitted while the people denied. By God, I love you — that you speak when we have spoken and keep silent when we have kept silent. We are the intermediaries between you and God.
