The practice is not to be measured by analogy; otherwise how is it that the menstruating woman makes up the fast but does not make up the prayer?

Al-Mahasin: Muhammad b. Muslim relates from Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, that he said: In the book "Adab 'Ali, peace be upon him" it has come: In religion and the command of God analogy must not be used; soon a group of analogists, who are the enemies of religion, will come.

Fiqh al-Rida: Al-Imam al-Rida, peace be upon him, said: Every innovation is misguidance and the end of every misguidance is the Fire.

The nearest thing to associating partners with God is that a man introduce a new opinion into religion as an innovation and befriend and show enmity over it.

Turning an innovator back from his innovation is among the ways of God.

Whoever calls people to himself while among them there is one more learned than he is an innovator and astray.

Seeking leadership leads to destruction, for leadership is beneficial only for those fit for it.

Al-Sara'ir, from Kitab al-Mashyakha: Al-Haytham b. Waqid says: I said to Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him: In the island where we live there is a man who gives news of lost things and the like; may we ask him? He said: The Prophet said: Whoever goes to a sorcerer, a soothsayer or a liar and credits them has disbelieved in the Book of God.

Al-Sara'ir, from Kitab al-Mashyakha: Abu Hamza says: I said to Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him: What is the nearest thing to associating partners with God? He said: That you introduce something as an innovation and befriend and show enmity over it.

'Awali al-La'ali: The Prophet, may God bless him and his family, said: This community will act for a time by the Book, and for a time by the practice, and then for a time by analogy — and in that case they will go astray.

The Prophet said: Beware of the people of opinion, for they are unable to preserve the practices. By their own opinion they make the lawful unlawful and the unlawful lawful; and in that case they are astray and leading astray.

Majalis al-Mufid:

The like of it comes with a chain under number 72, and the like of it came earlier in the chapter on innovation and practice.
Burha" — with damma or fatha on the ba' and sukun on the ra': a long stretch of time, or a stretch of time generally.
