He said: Abu Zabyan has lied. Has 'Ali's word, peace be upon him, not reached you that the Book has preceded the two sandals (that is, wiping over footwear is not permissible)? I said: Is there then any leave or permission? He said: No, unless you are practising dissimulation before an enemy, or the snow (water) would harm your feet — in that case it is permissible.

Tahzib al-Ahkam, by a chain in which there is some obscurity, he said: I asked Imam al-Kazim, peace be upon him: There is a dead body and a man in a state of major impurity, and there is water enough for the washing of one of the two. Which of them is to be washed? He said: When a recommended practice and an obligation come together, perform the obligatory duty first. And the content of this hadith has been related by two other chains.

Tahzib al-Ahkam: Ibn Zurara says: I asked: Must a woman who has not been penetrated but is in a state of major impurity perform the ritual washing? He said: No. Which of you would be content and would bear to see his daughter, his sister, his bondmaid, his wife or one of his relatives performing the major ablution and ask her: What are you doing? and for her to answer: I have become ritually impure — while she has no husband? God the Exalted said: "And if you are in a state of major impurity, purify yourselves [perform the major ablution]." And it is specific to men, not to women.

Tahzib al-Ahkam: Zurara says: I asked Imam al-Baqir, peace be upon him: A man wipes his hands before his face and his feet before washing his hands. He said: Let him begin from where God began; he must perform his ablution afresh.

Al-Kafi: Zurara says: I asked Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him: A slave marries without his master's permission — what is the ruling? He said: The choice rests with his master: if he wishes he gives permission, and otherwise he separates them. I said: Al-Hakam b. 'Utayba and Ibrahim al-Nakha'i and their companions say that the marriage was void from the root and does not become lawful by the master's permission. The Imam said: He did not disobey God; he only disobeyed his master. If the master gives permission, it takes effect.

Al-Kafi: Al-Hasan b. al-Jahm says: Al-Imam al-Rida, peace be upon him, said to me: [What do you say] about a man who marries a Christian woman while he also has a Muslim wife? I said: My word has no value before your word. He said: Answer, for by your answer my word too becomes known. (That is, if your answer is not correct, you will learn the right ruling from me.) I said: On the proof of the verse:

Taking it as it stands is problematic and it must be interpreted; for this reason al-Shaykh took it to mean that she saw it in her sleep and when she awoke she saw nothing.
