Al-Kafi: Murazim says: I asked Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, about a sick man who has not the power to pray. He said: In a thing for which a person has no power, God has the better right to accept the excuse.

Al-Kafi: Mas'ada b. Sadaqa says: I heard Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, say: Everything is lawful for you unless you yourself personally know that that thing is unlawful — then leave it. And it is like a garment that you have bought from the market and which may possibly be stolen goods; or a bondmaid who is with you, who may perhaps be a free woman who has sold herself, or has been sold by deception, or has been sold by force; or a woman you have married who may perhaps be your sister or your foster sister. And all things are so, unless the contrary becomes clear to you or a witness is brought.

Al-Kafi: Hariz says: Isma'il, the son of Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, had some dinars, and a man of Quraysh wished to go to Yemen. Isma'il said: Father! So-and-so wishes to go to Yemen and I have such and such a sum of dinars; do you wish me to give the money to that man so that he may buy me some goods from Yemen? Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: My son! Do you not know that that man is a wine-drinker? He said: Yes, people say so. He said: My son! God the Exalted says in the Qur'an: "He believes in God and credits [the word of] the believers." He credits God and credits the believers. When the believers bear witness before you, credit them.

Tahzib al-Ahkam: Abu Basir relates: I asked him, peace be upon him: A man in a state of major ritual impurity puts his hand into a leather vessel full of water or a stone vessel full of water — what is the ruling? He said: If his hand is impure, let him pour that water away; and if his hand is not impure, let him perform the major ablution with that water.
