«4»- ير، بصائر الدرجات أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنِ الثُّمَالِيِّ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ عليه السلام يَا جَابِرُ وَ اللَّهِ لَوْ كُنَّا نُحَدِّثُ النَّاسَ أَوْ حَدَّثْنَاهُمْ بِرَأْيِنَا لَكُنَّا مِنَ الْهَالِكِينَ وَ لَكِنَّا نُحَدِّثُهُمْ بِآثَارٍ عِنْدَنَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى اللّٰه عليه و آله يَتَوَارَثُهَا كَابِرٌ عَنْ كَابِرٍ نَكْنِزُهَا كَمَا يَكْنِزُ هَؤُلَاءِ ذَهَبَهُمْ وَ فِضَّتَهُمْ ١

Basa'ir al-Darajat: Abu Hamza al-Thumali related from Jabir, who said: Imam al-Baqir, peace be upon him, said: O Jabir, if the hadith we relate to you were from our own opinion and caprice, we would perish; but we relate to you the hadiths of the Prophet, which we inherited from my noble fathers and forefathers in honour and nobility and guard as a treasure — just as people hoard their gold and silver.

«5»- ير، بصائر الدرجات أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ عَنْ فُضَيْلِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عليه السلام يَقُولُ وَ اللَّهِ لَوْ لَا أَنَّ اللَّهَ فَرَضَ وَلَايَتَنَا وَ مَوَدَّتَنَا وَ قَرَابَتَنَا مَا أَدْخَلْنَاكُمْ بُيُوتَنَا وَ لَا أَوْقَفْنَاكُمْ عَلَى أَبْوَابِنَا وَ اللَّهِ مَا نَقُولُ بِأَهْوَائِنَا وَ لَا نَقُولُ بِرَأْيِنَا وَ لَا نَقُولُ إِلَّا مَا قَالَ رَبُّنَا.

Basa'ir al-Darajat: Muhammad b. Shurayh says: I heard Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, saying: By God, had God not made obligatory our guardianship and authority, our love and affection, and the observance of our kinship, we would not have left you [waiting] at the door of the house and in our dwelling. By God, we say nothing from caprice or personal opinion, and we say nothing but from God.

Majalis of al-Mufid: The like of that hadith is related. Basa'ir al-Darajat: The like of that hadith is related.

ير، بصائر الدرجات مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ فُضَيْلِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ مِثْلَهُ وَ زَادَ فِي آخِرِهِ أُصُولٌ عِنْدَنَا نَكْنِزُهَا كَمَا يَكْنِزُ هَؤُلَاءِ ذَهَبَهُمْ وَ فِضَّتَهُمْ

Basa'ir al-Darajat: The like of that hadith is related, but with this addition at the end: The principles are with us, like a treasure of gold and silver that people guard; we keep watch over it.

«6»- ير، بصائر الدرجات إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنْ عَنْبَسَةَ قَالَ سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عليه السلام عَنْ مَسْأَلَةٍ فَأَجَابَهُ فِيهَا فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ إِنْ كَانَ كَذَا وَ كَذَا مَا كَانَ الْقَوْلُ فِيهَا فَقَالَ لَهُ مَهْمَا أَجَبْتُكَ فِيهِ بِشَيْ ءٍ فَهُوَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى اللّٰه عليه و آله لَسْنَا نَقُولُ بِرَأْيِنَا مِنْ شَيْ ءٍ ٢.

Basa'ir al-Darajat: 'Anbasa says: A man asked Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, a question and the Imam answered it. That man said: What do you say if the case were such and such? He said: Whenever I give you an answer, it is from the Messenger of God, may God bless him and his family, and we say nothing from personal opinion.

«7»- ختص، الإختصاص ير، بصائر الدرجات أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْأَهْوَازِيِّ عَنْ فَضَالَةَ عَنْ جَمِيلٍ عَنِ الْفُضَيْلِ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ عليه السلام أَنَّهُ قَالَ: إِنَّا عَلَى بَيِّنَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّنَا بَيَّنَهَا لِنَبِيِّهِ صلى اللّٰه عليه و آله فَبَيَّنَهَا نَبِيُّهُ لَنَا فَلَوْ لَا ذَلِكَ كُنَّا كَهَؤُلَاءِ النَّاسِ.

Al-Ikhtisas and Basa'ir al-Darajat: Fudayl says: Imam al-Baqir, peace be upon him, said: We have a clear proof and evidence from God, which He set forth for His Messenger and which the Prophet in turn set forth for us; were it not so, we would be no different from these people.

«8»- ختص، الإختصاص ير، بصائر الدرجات ابْنُ عِيسَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ مِهْرَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَمِيرَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْمِعْزَی عَنْ سَمَاعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ عليه السلام قَالَ: قُلْتُ لَهُ كُلُّ شَيْ ءٍ تَقُولُ بِهِ فِي

Al-Ikhtisas and Basa'ir al-Darajat: Sama'a says: I asked Abu al-Hasan, peace be upon him: Is what you say
