Are you the one who holds that everything has a limit? He said: Yes, I am the one who says that everything, small or great, that God has created has a limit; and if that limit is overstepped, God's limit has been overstepped. I said: What is the limit of your table-cloth? He said: When you spread the cloth you say "In the name of God", and when you take it up you praise and thank God. I said: What is the limit of your water jug? He said: Do not drink from its side or from the broken part, for that is Satan's place. When you drink water, utter the name of God; when you take it from your mouth, praise God; and drink water in three breaths, for drinking in a single breath is disliked.

Al-Mahasin: Abu Hamza relates from Imam al-Baqir, peace be upon him, that the Prophet said in the sermon of the Farewell Pilgrimage: O people, fear God! There is nothing that would bring you near to Paradise and keep you far from Hell but that I have commanded it or forbidden it.

Al-Mahasin: Abu Usama says: I was with Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him. A man of the Mughiriyya group was asking about something of the manners of Islam. He said: Concerning all the needs of human beings, the practice of God and His Messenger is in force; whoever knows it knows it, and whoever does not know it denies it. That man asked: What is the practice concerning going to the privy? He said: You remember God and seek refuge with God from Satan. When you have finished you praise and thank God and say: Praise be to God who has brought this harm out of me with ease and soundness. That man said: In that state no one has the patience to look at what has come out of him. He said: With every human being there are two angels who, when a man is relieving himself, bend his neck and say to him: Son of Adam, look at what you strove for in this world — what has become of it!
