Al-Mahasin: Muhammad b. Hakim relates from Abu al-Hasan, peace be upon him, that he said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and his family, brought them that by which they are made independent in his lifetime and that with which they are sufficed after him.

Al-Mahasin: Fudayl relates from Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, that he pointed to the wall of his house and said: Religion has limits and bounds like this wall.

Al-Mahasin: Hafs b. al-Bakhtari relates from Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, that he said: There is nothing but that it has a limit and a bound, like the four walls of my house: so whatever is in the street belongs to the street, and whatever is in the house belongs to the house.

Al-Mahasin: Abu Hassan al-'Ijli says: I heard Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, say: The lawful and the unlawful too have limits and bounds like my house: what of the house belongs to the road is counted as of the road, and what belongs to the house is of the house. Even the compensation for a scratch on the limbs of the body and the like, one lash and half a lash, is fixed in the sacred law.

Al-Mahasin: Hafs b. Qurt says: I heard Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, say: 'Ali, peace be upon him, knew all the goods (blessings) of the lawful and the unlawful and of the Qur'an; and everything has a limit and a bound.

In some copies it reads "al-khayr" with a two-dotted ya', that is, all the goods of the lawful and the unlawful; and in some copies with a single-dotted ba', "al-khabar", that is, the reports of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and his family, concerning the lawful and the unlawful.

Al-Mahasin: Abu Labid al-Bahrani relates from Imam al-Baqir, peace be upon him, that a man said to Imam al-Baqir, peace be upon him, in Mecca: Do

With damma on the qaf, sukun on the ra', followed by an undotted ta'. The Shaykh gives in his Rijal, among the companions of Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, two men named Hafs b. Qurt: one is Hafs b. Qurt al-A'war, of Kufa, an Arab camel-driver, and the other is Hafs b. Qurt al-Nakha'i al-Kufi; and in their entries he added nothing beyond their being among the companions of Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him. It is related from Jami' al-Ruwat that Ibn Abi 'Umayr, Yunus b. 'Abd al-Rahman, Ibn Sinan and Ishaq b. 'Ammar related from al-Nakha'i al-Kufi.
A number have stated explicitly that his name is 'Abd Allah b. 'Uthman b. 'Amr b. Khalid al-Fazari, and some have disagreed; perhaps the discussion of this will come later, God willing.
With damma on the kha', sukun on the ya' and fatha on the tha'.
In the printed al-Mahasin, p. 274, it reads "Abu al-Walid al-Najrani", but this is a scribal error; the correct form is "Abu Labid", as on p. 270 of al-Mahasin, where he is described as "al-Mara'i al-Hajari", and there his narration on the interpretation of "Alif Lam Mim Sad" is given. The man's name and state are unknown, and the biographers have not mentioned him in their books. Yes, the Shaykh gives in his Rijal "Abu Labid al-Hajari" among the companions of Imam al-Baqir, peace be upon him, and perhaps he is the same as this one; but this one too is unknown like him.
