Section [on the abundance of her worship]. Al-Hasan al-Basri said: There was in this community none more devoted in worship than Fatima, peace be upon her; she would stand in prayer until her feet swelled. [1]

And the Prophet, may God bless him and his Family, said to her: What thing is best for a woman?

She said: That she should not see a man, nor a man see her. So he drew her to himself and said: “Offspring, one of another.” [2]

And al-Hasan b. 'Ali, peace be upon him, said: I saw my mother Fatima, peace be upon her, standing in her prayer-niche on the eve of her Friday, and she did not cease bowing and prostrating until the pillar of dawn broke. And I heard her praying for the believing men and the believing women, naming them and praying much for them, and not praying for herself in anything. I said to her: Mother, why do you not pray for yourself as you pray for others? She said: My little son, the neighbour first, then the household. [3]

And al-Saduq related from Fatima, God's blessings be upon her, who said: I heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and his Family, say: In Friday there is an hour such that no Muslim man happens upon it, asking God, mighty and exalted, in it for some good, but that He gives it to him. She said: I said: O Messenger of God, which hour is it?

He said: When half the disc of the sun has inclined towards setting. He said: And Fatima, peace be upon her, would say to her servant: Climb up on the rise, and when you see half the disc of the sun inclining towards setting, tell me, that I may supplicate. [4]

And it is related that she, peace be upon her, when she stood in her prayer-niche, her light would shine for the people of heaven as the light of the stars shines for the people of the earth. [5]
