Al-Kulayni, from Abu Ja'far, peace be upon him, from Jabir b. 'Abd Allah al-Ansari, who said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and his Family, went out making for Fatima, peace be upon her, and I was with him. When we came to the door he put his hand upon it and pushed it, then said: Peace be upon you. Fatima, peace be upon her, said: Upon you be peace, O Messenger of God. He said: May I enter?
She said: Enter, O Messenger of God. He said: May I enter, and whoever is with me?
She said: O Messenger of God, I have no head-covering. He said: O Fatima, take the surplus of your wrapper and cover your head with it. So she did. Then he said: Peace be upon you. She said: And upon you be peace, O Messenger of God. He said: May I enter?
She said: Yes, O Messenger of God. He said: I, and whoever is with me?
She said: You, and whoever is with you. Jabir said: So the Messenger of God, may God bless him and his Family, entered, and I entered; and behold, the face of Fatima, peace be upon her, was yellow, as though it were the belly of a locust. The Messenger of God, may God bless him and his Family, said: How is it that I see your face yellow?
She said: O Messenger of God, it is hunger. So he said: “O God, who satisfies hunger and wards off ruin, satisfy Fatima the daughter of Muhammad” — and so on. [12]
And from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: 'Ali b. Abi Talib, peace be upon him, rose one day hungry and said: O Fatima, have you anything to feed me? She said: No, by Him who honoured my father with prophethood and honoured you with the legateeship, there has been nothing with me this morning; nor has there been anything we have eaten these two days past but something with which I preferred you over myself and over these two sons of mine, al-Hasan and al-Husayn. 'Ali, peace be upon him, said: O Fatima, why did you not tell me, that I might seek something for you? She said: O Abu al-Hasan, I am ashamed before my God to burden your soul with what it has no power over. [13]
And from Qurb al-Isnad, from Abu 'Abd Allah, from his father, peace be upon him, who said: 'Ali and Fatima, God's blessings be upon them, brought a dispute before the Messenger of God, may God bless him and his Family, concerning the household service;
