هذا والله العلم ! قال : إنه لعلم وليس بذلك .

by God, this is knowledge indeed! He said: It is knowledge, yet it is not that.

ثم قال : وإن عندنا الجفر ، وما يدريهم ما الجفر ، قال : قلت وما الجفر ؟

Then he said: And with us is al-Jafr — and what do they know what al-Jafr is? I said: And what is al-Jafr?

قال وعاء من أدم أحمر ، فيه علم النبيين ، والوصيين ، وعلم العلماء الذين مضوا من بني إسرائيل ، قال : قلت إن هذا هو العلم ، قال إنه لعلم وليس بذلك .

He said: A vessel of red leather, in which is the knowledge of the prophets and of the legatees, and the knowledge of the scholars who passed away from among the Children of Israel. I said: This indeed is knowledge. He said: It is knowledge, yet it is not that.

ثم سكت ساعة ، ثم قال : " وإن عندنا لمصحف فاطمة عليها السلام وما يدريهم ما مصحف فاطمة عليها السلام " قال : قلت وما مصحف فاطمة عليها السلام ؟

Then he was silent a while, then said: And with us is the Mushaf of Fatima, peace be upon her — and what do they know what the Mushaf of Fatima, peace be upon her, is? I said: And what is the Mushaf of Fatima, peace be upon her?

قال مصحف : فيه مثل قرآنكم هذا ، ثلث مرات ، والله ما فيه من قرآنكم حرف واحد [ إنما شئ أملاها الله وأوحى إليها ] قال : قلت هذا والله العلم ؟ قال : إنه لعلم وما هو بذلك .

He said: A mushaf containing three times the like of this Qur'an of yours. By God, there is not in it a single letter of your Qur'an; [it is only something God dictated and revealed to her]. I said: By God, this is knowledge! He said: It is knowledge, yet it is not that.

ثم سكت ساعة ، ثم قال : " إن عندنا لعلم ما كان وعلم ما هو كائن إلى أن تقوم الساعة " قال : قلت : جعلت فداك ، هذا والله هو العلم ! قال : إنه لعلم وليس بذاك . قال : قلت جعلت فداك ، فأي شئ هو العلم ؟

Then he was silent a while, then said: With us is the knowledge of what has been and the knowledge of what will be, until the Hour arises. I said: May I be your ransom, by God, this indeed is knowledge! He said: It is knowledge, yet it is not that. I said: May I be your ransom, then what thing is knowledge?

قال : " ما يحدث بالليل والنهار الأمر بعد الأمر ، والشئ بعد الشئ إلى يوم القيامة " 6 .

He said: What occurs by night and by day, matter after matter and thing after thing, until the Day of Resurrection. [6]

وفي جملة من الروايات إنها سلام الله عليها إحدى الركبان الأربعة يوم القيامة تركب ناقة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله العضباء 7 .

And in a number of the traditions she, peace be upon her, is one of the four riders on the Day of Resurrection: she rides al-'Adba', the she-camel of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and his Family. [7]

روى ابن شهرآشوب إنه لما حضر النبي صلى الله عليه وآله الوفاة ، قالت الناقة : لمن توصي بي بعدك ؟

Ibn Shahrashub related that when death came upon the Prophet, may God bless him and his Family, the she-camel said: To whom do you entrust me after you?

قال : يا عضباء بارك الله فيك ، أنت لابنتي فاطمة " صلوات الله عليها " ، تركبك في الدنيا والآخرة ، فلما قبض النبي صلى الله عليه وآله أتت إلى فاطمة عليها السلام ليلا فقالت : السلام عليك يا بنت رسول الله قد حان فراقي الدنيا ، والله ما تهنأت بعلف ولا شراب بعد رسول الله صلى الله

He said: O 'Adba', God bless you; you belong to my daughter Fatima, God's blessings be upon her — you shall carry her in this world and in the next. And when the Prophet, may God bless him and his Family, was taken, she came to Fatima, peace be upon her, by night and said: Peace be upon you, O daughter of the Messenger of God; the hour of my parting from the world has come. By God, I have taken pleasure in neither fodder nor drink after the Messenger of God, may God bless
