for her — such as his calling her “O beloved of her father”.

As al-Tabari the Imami related from Ja'far b. Muhammad, from his forefathers, peace be upon them, from Fatima, peace be upon her, who said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and his Family, said: O beloved of her father, every intoxicant is forbidden, and every intoxicant is wine. [2] And let it be known that it has been established in its place that the love of those brought near for their children, their kin and their beloved ones does not arise from the motives of the self or from human appetites. Rather they have divested themselves of all of that and made their love and their will purely for God; they love nothing but God Most High, and their love for what is other than Him goes back only to their love for Him.

It is for this reason that Ya'qub, peace be upon him, did not love any of his other children as he loved Yusuf, peace be upon him. They, in their ignorance of the cause of his love, ascribed him to error and said: We are a band, and we are more deserving to be loved by him, for we are strong to carry through what he wishes of the affairs of the world. But his abundant love for Yusuf was only for God Most High's love of him and His choosing of him — and the beloved of the beloved is beloved.

Al-Shaykh al-Kulayni, may God perfume his grave, related from Muhammad b. Sinan, who said: I was with Abu Ja'far the Second, peace be upon him, and I raised the matter of the disagreement of the Shi'a. He said: O Muhammad, God, blessed and exalted, was ever alone in His oneness; then He created Muhammad, 'Ali and Fatima, God's blessings be upon them, and they remained a thousand ages. Then He created all things and made them witnesses of their creation, and made obedience to them binding upon them, and committed their affairs to them. So they make lawful what they will [and make unlawful what they will], and they will not will save that God, blessed and exalted, wills. Then he said: O Muhammad, this is the religion: whoever goes on ahead of it has left it, whoever falls behind it is destroyed, and whoever keeps to it is joined. Take it to yourself, O Muhammad. [3]

I say: it appears from this noble hadith that Fatima, God's blessings be upon her, is among those to whom God Most High committed the affairs of all things; so she makes lawful what she will and makes unlawful what she will.
