all of that being in the protection of her husband, until she died a martyr. And with all that, when death came upon her she wept, and the Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him, said to her: My lady, what makes you weep?
She said: I weep for what you will meet after me. He said to her: Do not weep, for by God, that is a small thing to me in the cause of God Most High. [12]
Al-Shaykh al-Mufid related in the Irshad that when the Prophet sent the Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon them both, to the raid of Dhat al-Raml — which is also called the raid of Dhat al-Salasil — the Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him, had a headband which he would not bind on until the Prophet, may God bless him and his Family, sent him upon some hard undertaking. So he went to the house of Fatima, peace be upon her, and sought the headband from her. She said: Where are you bound, and where has my father sent you?
He said: To the valley of the sands. And she wept out of tenderness for him. The Prophet, may God bless him and his Family, came in while she was in that state and said to her: What ails you, that you weep? Do you fear that your husband will be slain?
By no means, God willing. And 'Ali, peace be upon him, said to him: Do not begrudge me the Garden, O Messenger of God. [13]
As for her tenderness towards her children, it is enough in that to recall what al-Saduq related from Hammad, from al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, who said: It is not lawful for anyone to join in marriage two of the children of Fatima, peace be upon her; that reaches her, and it grieves her. I said: It reaches her? He said: Yes, by God. [14]
The author of 'Umdat al-Talib said, in the course of the circumstances of the Banu Dawud b. Musa al-Hasani: The Banu Dawud b. Musa have a notable tale, well known among the genealogists and others and furnished with a chain, which is mentioned in the Diwan of Ibn 'Unayn. It is that Abu al-Mahasin Nasr Allah b. 'Unayn al-Dimashqi the poet set out for Mecca, may God Most High ennoble it, having with him money and cloth. Some of the Banu Dawud came out against him, took what he had, stripped him and wounded him. So he wrote to al-Malik al-'Aziz b. Ayyub
