قالت خديجة رضوان الله عليها : وكنت قد ألفت الوحدة ، فكان إذا جنتني الليل غطيت رأسي وأسجفت 11 ستري وغلقت بابي وصليت وردي 12 وأطفأت مصباحي وآويت إلى فراشي ، فلما كانت في تلك الليلة لم أكن بالنائمة ولا بالمنتبهة إذ جاء النبي صلى الله عليه وآله فقرع الباب ، فناديت : من هذا الذي يقرع حلقة لا يقرعها إلا محمد صلى الله عليه وآله ؟

Khadija, may God's good pleasure be upon her, said: I had grown used to solitude, so that when night fell upon me I would cover my head, let down my curtain [11], bolt my door, pray my portion [12], put out my lamp and take to my bed. On that night I was neither asleep nor fully awake when the Prophet, may God bless him and his Family, came and knocked at the door. I called out: Who is this, who knocks at a ring that none knocks at but Muhammad, may God bless him and his Family?

- قالت خديجة : - فنادى النبي صلى الله عليه وآله بعذوبة كلامه وحلاوة منطقه إفتحي يا خديجة فإني محمد صلى الله عليه وآله .

Khadija said: And the Prophet, may God bless him and his Family, called out, with the sweetness of his speech and the pleasantness of his words: Open, O Khadija, for I am Muhammad, may God bless him and his Family.

قالت خديجة : فقمت فرحة مستبشرة بالنبي صلى الله عليه وآله ، وفتحت الباب ودخل النبي صلى الله عليه وآله المنزل ، وكان صلى الله عليه وآله إذا دخل المنزل دعا بالإناء ، فتطهر للصلاة ثم يقوم ، فيصلي ركعتين يوجز فيها ثم يأوي إلى فراشه .

Khadija said: I rose, glad and rejoicing at the Prophet, may God bless him and his Family, and opened the door, and the Prophet, may God bless him and his Family, entered the house. Now when he, may God bless him and his Family, entered the house he would call for the vessel and purify himself for prayer; then he would rise and pray two brief units, and then take to his bed.

فلما كان في تلك الليلة ، لم يدع بالإناء ولم يتأهب بالصلاة ، غير أنه أخذ بعضدي وأقعدني على فراشه ، وداعبني ، ومازحني ، وكان بيني وبينه ما يكون بين المرأة وبعلها : فلا والذي سمك السماء وأنبع الماء ، ما تباعد عني النبي صلى الله عليه وآله حتى حسست بثقل فاطمة عليها السلام في بطني .

But on that night he did not call for the vessel, nor make ready for prayer. He only took me by the arm and seated me upon his bed, and was tender and playful with me; and there was between me and him what is between a woman and her husband. By Him who raised up the heaven and made the water to gush forth, the Prophet, may God bless him and his Family, did not withdraw from me until I felt the weight of Fatima, peace be upon her, within me.

أقول : اعتزال النبي صلى الله عليه وآله عن خديجة رضي الله عنها أربعين يوما كان للتأهب لتحية رب العالمين وتحفته ، والمراد بها فاطمة صلوات الله عليها .

I say: the Prophet's withdrawal from Khadija, may God be pleased with her, for forty days was in order to make ready for the salutation of the Lord of the Worlds and for His gift — and what is meant by it is Fatima, God's blessings be upon her.

كما أشير إلى ذلك في زيارتها و " صل " على البتول الطاهرة ، إلى قوله : فاطمة بنت رسولك ، وبضعة لحمه وصميم قلبه وفلذة كبده والتحية منك له والتحفة " .

As is indicated in her ziyara: “And bless the pure Batul” — down to his words: “Fatima, the daughter of Your Messenger, the part of his flesh and the core of his heart, the fruit of his liver, and the salutation from You to him, and the gift.”

وفي هذا الاعتزال دليل على جلالة فاطمة سيدة النسوان بما لا يطيق

And in this withdrawal is a proof of the eminence of Fatima, Mistress of Women, such as none can bear
