قالت : السلام على جبرئيل ، السلام على رسول الله ، اللهم مع رسولك ، اللهم في رضوانك وجوارك ودارك دار السلام ، ثم قالت : أترون ما أرى ؟ فقيل لها : ما ترى ؟

said: Peace be upon Gabriel; peace be upon the Messenger of God. O God, with Your Messenger. O God, in Your good pleasure and Your neighbourhood and Your abode, the abode of peace. Then she said: Do you see what I see? And it was said to her: What do you see?

قالت : هذه مواكب أهل السماوات ، وهذا جبرئيل ، وهذا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله ويقول : يا بنية أقدمي فما أمامك خير لك 7 .

She said: These are the processions of the people of the heavens; and this is Gabriel; and this is the Messenger of God, may God bless him and his Family, and he says: My little daughter, come forward — for what is before you is better for you. [7]

وعن زيد بن علي ، أنها سلام الله عليها لما احتضرت ، سلمت على جبرئيل وعلى النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وعلى ملك الموت وسمعوا حس الملائكة ووجدوا رائحة طيب كأطيب ما يكون الطيب 8 .

And from Zayd b. 'Ali: that she, the peace of God be upon her, when death came upon her, gave the greeting to Gabriel and to the Prophet, may God bless him and his Family, and to the angel of death; and they heard the stirring of the angels and found a fragrance of perfume like the sweetest of perfume. وعن أسماء بنت عميس ، قالت : لما حضرت فاطمة عليها السلام الوفاة قالت لي : إن جبرئيل أتى النبي صلى الله عليه وآله لما حضرته الوفاة بكافور من الجنة فقسمه أثلاثا ، ثلثا لنفسه وثلثا لعلي عليه السلام وثلثا لي وكان أربعين درهما ، فقالت : يا أسماء إيتيني ببقية حنوط والدي من موضع كذا وكذا فضعيه عن رأسي ثم تسجت بثوبها وقالت : انتظريني هنيهة ثم ادعني فإن أجبتك وإلا فاعلمي أني قد قدمت على أبي ( ربي - خ ل ) .

And from Asma' bint 'Umays, who said: When death came to Fatima, peace be upon her, she said to me: Gabriel came to the Prophet, may God bless him and his Family, when death came to him, with camphor from the Garden; and he divided it in three: a third for himself, a third for 'Ali, peace be upon him, and a third for me — and it was forty dirhams. And she said: O Asma', bring me the remainder of my father's embalming from such and such a place, and set it at my head. Then she wrapped herself in her cloth and said: Wait for me a little while, then call me; and if I answer you, well; and if not, then know that I have come to my father (a variant: my Lord).

قال الراوي : فانتظرتها أسماء هنيهة ، ثم نادتها فلم تجبها ، فنادت يا بنت محمد المصطفى ، يا بنت أكرم من حملته النساء يا بنت خير من وطأ الحصى ، يا بنت من كان من ربه قاب قوسين أو أدنى قال فلم تجبها ، فكشفت الثوب عن وجهها فإذا بها قد فارقت الدنيا ، فوقعت عليها تقبلها وهي تقول : يا فاطمة إذا قدمت على أبيك رسول الله فاقرأيه عن أسماء بنت عميس السلام ، ثم شقت أسماء جيبها وخرجت فتلقاها الحسن والحسين عليهما السلام فقال : أين أمنا فسكتت فدخلا البيت فإذا هي ممتدة فحركها الحسين عليه السلام فإذا هي ميتة ، فقال : يا أخاه آجرك الله في الوالدة ، فوقع عليها الحسن عليه السلام يقبلها مرة ويقول : يا أماه كلميني قبل أن

The narrator said: So Asma' waited for her a little while, then called her, and she did not answer. So she called: O daughter of Muhammad the Chosen! O daughter of the noblest whom women have borne! O daughter of the best who ever trod the pebbles! O daughter of him who was from his Lord at two bows' length or nearer! He said: And she did not answer her. So she uncovered the cloth from her face, and there she was, departed from this world. So she fell upon her, kissing her and saying: O Fatima, when you come to your father, the Messenger of God, give him greeting from Asma' bint 'Umays. Then Asma' tore her collar and went out; and al-Hasan and al-Husayn, peace be upon them, met her, and said: Where is our mother? And she was silent. So the two of them entered the house, and there she was, stretched out. And al-Husayn, peace be upon him, moved her, and there she was, dead. And he said: O my brother, may God reward you in the matter of our mother. And al-Hasan, peace be upon him, fell upon her, kissing her again and again and saying: O my mother, speak to me before
