صلى الله عليه وآله يقول : إن فاطمة سيدة نساء أهل الجنة ، ثم قالت أم أيمن : فمن كانت سيده نساء أهل الجنة تدعي ما ليس لها وأنا امرأة من أهل الجنة ما كنت لأشهد بما لم أكن سمعت من رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله فقال عمر : دعينا يا أم أيمن [ من ] هذه القصص بأي شئ تشهدين ؟
may God bless him and his Family, say: Fatima is the mistress of the women of the people of the Garden. Then Umm Ayman said: And would one who is the mistress of the women of the people of the Garden claim what is not hers? And I am a woman of the people of the Garden — I would not testify to what I had not heard from the Messenger of God, may God bless him and his Family. So 'Umar said: Spare us, O Umm Ayman, these tales. To what do you testify?
فقالت : كنت جالسة في بيت فاطمة عليها السلام ورسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله جالس حتى نزل جبرئيل فقال : يا محمد قم ، فإن الله تبارك وتعالى أمرني أن أخط لك فدكا بجناحي ، فقام رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله مع جبرئيل فما لبث أن رجع فقالت فاطمة عليها السلام : يا أبة أين ذهبت ؟
She said: I was sitting in the house of Fatima, peace be upon her, and the Messenger of God, may God bless him and his Family, was sitting, when Gabriel came down and said: O Muhammad, rise; for God, blessed and exalted, has commanded me to mark out Fadak for you with my wing. So the Messenger of God, may God bless him and his Family, rose with Gabriel, and it was not long before he returned. And Fatima, peace be upon her, said: O my father, where did you go?
فقال خط جبرئيل ( عليه السلام ) لي فدكا بجناحه وحد لي حدودها فقالت : يا أبة إني أخاف العيلة والحاجة من بعدك ، فصدق بها علي فقال : هي صدقة عليك فقبضتها .
And he said: Gabriel (peace be upon him) marked out Fadak for me with his wing and set its bounds for me. She said: O my father, I fear want and need after you; so give it to me as a charitable gift. And he said: It is a gift to you. So she took possession of it.
قالت : نعم فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله يا أم أيمن اشهدي ويا علي اشهد فقال عمر : أنت امرأة ولا نجيز شهادة امرأة وحدها ، وأما علي فيجر إلى نفسه ، قال : فقامت مغضبة ، وقالت : اللهم إنهما ظلما ابنة نبيك حقها فاشدد وطأتك عليهما ، ثم خرجت ، وحملها علي عليه السلام على إتان عليه كساء له خمل 1 فدار بها أربعين صباحا في بيوت المهاجرين والأنصار والحسن والحسين معها وهي تقول يا معشر المهاجرين والأنصار : انصروا الله وابنة نبيكم إلى أن قال : فقال علي عليه السلام لها : إيتي أبا بكر وحده فإنه أرق من الآخر وقولي له : ادعيت مجلس أبي وإنك خليفته وجلست مجلسه ، ولو كانت فدك لك ثم استوهبتها منك لوجب ردها علي ، فلما أتته وقالت له ذلك ، قال : صدقت قال فدعا بكتاب فكتبه لها برد فدك ، فخرجت والكتاب معها فلقيها عمر فقال : يا بنت محمد ما هذا الكتاب الذي معك ؟
She said: Yes. Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and his Family, said: O Umm Ayman, bear witness; and O 'Ali, bear witness. So 'Umar said: You are a woman, and we do not admit the testimony of a woman alone; and as for 'Ali, he draws it to himself. He said: So she rose in anger and said: O God, these two have wronged the daughter of Your Prophet of her right; so make heavy Your grip upon them. Then she went out. And 'Ali, peace be upon him, carried her upon a she-ass with a cloak upon it that had a fringe, [1] and went round with her for forty mornings among the houses of the Emigrants and the Ansar, with al-Hasan and al-Husayn with her, and she saying: O company of the Emigrants and the Ansar, help God and the daughter of your Prophet — until he said: So 'Ali, peace be upon him, said to her: Go to Abu Bakr alone, for he is the gentler of the two, and say to him: You have claimed the seat of my father and that you are his successor and have sat in his seat; and had Fadak been yours and then I had asked it of you as a gift, its return to me would have been obligatory. And when she came to him and said that to him, he said: You have spoken truly. He said: So he called for a document and wrote it for her with the return of Fadak. So she went out with the document with her; and 'Umar met her and said: O daughter of Muhammad, what is this document that is with you?
فقالت : كتاب كتب لي أبو بكر برد فدك ، فقال : هلميه إلي ، فأبت أن تدفعه
And she said: A document that Abu Bakr wrote for me with the return of Fadak. He said: Give it to me. And she refused to hand it
