خصلتين ؟ تعذب بعذاب الله وتقتل الولدان والنساء ، والله إن في قتلك الرجال لما ترضى به أميرك ، قال : فقال من أنت ، قلت لا أخبرك من أنا قال : وخشيت والله لو أن عرفني أن يضرني عند السلطان ، قال : فجاء رجل كان أطوع له مني شبث بن ربعي ، فقال : ما رأيت مقالا أسوء من قولك ولا موقفا أقبح من موقفك أمر عبا للنساء صرت قال : فأشهد أنه استحيى فذهب لينصرف 15 .

أقول : هذا شمر مع أنه كان جلفا جافا قليل الحياء استحيى من قول شبث ثم انصرف ! !

وأما الذي جاء إلى باب أمير المؤمنين وأهل بيته عليهما السلام وهددهم بتحريقهم وقال : والذي نفس عمر بيده ليخرجن أو لأحرقنه على ما فيه ، فقيل له : إن فيه فاطمة بنت رسول الله وولد رسول الله وآثار رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله 16 ، فاشهد أنه لا يستحي ولم ينصرف بل فعل ما فعل .

ولم يكن لأمير المؤمنين عليه السلام من ينصره ويذب عنه إلا ما روي عن الزبير إنه لما رأى القوم أخرجوا عليا عليه السلام من منزله ملببا أقبل مخترطا سيفه وهو يقول : يا معشر بني عبد المطلب ، أيفعل هذا بعلي وأنتم أحياء وشد على عمر ليضربه بالسيف فرماه خالد بن الوليد بصخرة ، فأصابت قفاه وسقط السيف من يده ، فأخذه عمر وضربه على صخرة فانكسر 17 .

وروى الشيخ الكليني عن سدير قال : كنا عند أبي جعفر عليه السلام فذكرنا ما أحدث الناس بعد نبيهم واستذلالهم أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام ، فقال رجل من القوم : أصلحك الله فأين كان عز بني هاشم وما كانوا فيه من العدد ؟
