والله لو أن حمزة وجعفرا كانا بحضرتهما ، ما وصلا إلى ما وصلا إليه ، ولو كانا شاهديهما لأتلفا نفسيهما 18 ، فلذلك روي عن أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام : إنه لم يقم مرة على المنبر إلا قال في آخر كلامه قبل أن ينزل : " ما زلت مظلوما منذ قبض الله نبيه " 19 .

by God, had Hamza and Ja'far been present before those two, they would not have attained what they attained; and had the two of them witnessed it, they would have destroyed themselves. [18] And for that reason it is related from the Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him: that he never once stood upon the pulpit without saying, at the end of his words before he came down: “I have not ceased to be wronged since God took His Prophet.” [19]

وقال مسيب بن نجية قال : بينما علي عليه السلام يخطب وأعرابي يقول : وامظلمتاه ، فقال علي عليه السلام : ادن فدنا ، فقال : لقد ظلمت عدد المدر والوبر 20 .

And al-Musayyab b. Najiya said: While 'Ali, peace be upon him, was preaching, a bedouin was saying: Alas for my wrong! And 'Ali, peace be upon him, said: Come near. So he came near; and he said: I have been wronged as many times as the clods of earth and the hairs of the flock. [20]

وجاء أعرابي يتخطا ، فنادى : يا أمير المؤمنين مظلوم قال علي عليه السلام : ويحك وأنا مظلوم ظلمت عدد المدر والوبر 21 .

And a bedouin came pressing through and called out: O Commander of the Faithful, I am wronged. 'Ali, peace be upon him, said: Woe to you — and I too am wronged; I have been wronged as many times as the clods of earth and the hairs of the flock. [21]

وكان أبو ذر يعبر عنه عليه السلام بالشيخ المظلوم المضطهد حقه 22 .

And Abu Dharr used to speak of him, peace be upon him, as the wronged shaykh whose right was usurped. [22]

وروى الكليني فيما يقال عند قبر أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام ، عن أبي الحسن الثالث عليه السلام قال : يقول : " السلام عليك يا ولي الله ، أنت أول مظلوم وأول من غصب حقه ، صبرت واحتسبت حتى أتاك اليقين ، فأشهد أنك لقيت الله وأنت شهيد ، عذب الله قاتلك بأنواع العذاب وجدد عليه العذاب 23 .

And al-Kulayni related, among what is said at the grave of the Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him, from Abu al-Hasan the Third, peace be upon him, who said: He says: “Peace be upon you, O friend of God. You are the first wronged one and the first whose right was seized. You were patient and sought the reward until certainty came to you. So I bear witness that you met God as a martyr. May God punish your killer with every kind of punishment, and renew the punishment upon him.” [23]

أقول : وهذه نفثة مصدور ونبذ من الرزايا التي تذوب منها الصخور ، ولنختم الكلام بأشعار الشيخ صالح الحلي رحمه الله : أشعار الشيخ صالح الحلي ( ره ) الواثبين بظلم آل ومحمد * ومحمد ملقى بلا تكفين والقائلين لفاطم آذيتنا * في طول نوح دائم وحنين والقاطعين أراكة كيما تقيل * بظلم أوراق لهم وغصون

I say: and this is the breath of one whose breast is afflicted, and a portion of the disasters from which the rocks would melt. And let us seal the discourse with the verses of al-Shaykh Salih al-Hilli, may God have mercy on him: The verses of al-Shaykh Salih al-Hilli (may God have mercy on him) — Those who leapt to wrong the Family of Muhammad — while Muhammad lay cast down without a shroud; — and those who said to Fatima: You have hurt us — with a long, unceasing wailing and lament; — and those who cut down the arak tree, that there might not rest — in its shade, by wrong, a leaf of theirs nor a bough;
