to widow me of my husband? By God, if you do not desist from him, I shall loose my hair and rend my collar and come to my father's grave and cry out to my Lord. Then she took the hand of al-Hasan and al-Husayn and went out, making for the grave of the Prophet, may God bless him and his Family. So 'Ali, peace be upon him, said to Salman: Overtake the daughter of Muhammad, may God bless him and his Family, for I see the two sides of Medina heaving (8). By God, if she looses her hair and rends her collar and comes to her father's grave and cries out to her Lord, it will not be waited upon in Medina but that it be swallowed up with her and with all who are in it. So Salman, may God be pleased with him, overtook her and said: O daughter of Muhammad, God sent your father only as a mercy — so turn back. She said: O Salman, they intend to kill 'Ali, peace be upon him, and I have no patience for it. So let me be, that I may come to my father's grave and loose my hair and rend my collar and cry out to my Lord. Salman said: I fear that Medina will be swallowed up; and 'Ali sent me to you, commanding you to return to your house for his sake, and to help me. So she said, peace be upon her: Then I shall return, and be patient, and hear him and obey (9).
Al-Ihtijaj: It is related from al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, that he said: When the Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him, was brought out of his dwelling, Fatima, peace be upon her, went out, and not a Hashimite woman remained but she went out with her, until she came near to the grave. And she said to them: Let go of my cousin. For by Him who sent Muhammad with the truth, if you do not let go of him, I shall loose my hair and set the shirt of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and his Family, upon my head and cry out to God, blessed and exalted. For Salih was no nobler before God than my father, nor the she-camel nobler than I, nor the young camel nobler before God than my child. Salman, may God be pleased with him, said: I was near to her, and by God I saw the foundations of the walls of the mosque — the mosque of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and his Family — torn up from beneath, so that had a man wished to pass under them he could have passed. So I drew near to her and said: My lady and my mistress, God, blessed and exalted, sent your father as a mercy; so do not be a punishment. So she turned back; and the walls returned, until the dust rose from beneath them and entered into our nostrils (1).
