هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْغَٰشِيَةِ۝١

1Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity?

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَٰشِعَةٌ۝٢

2(Some) faces on that day shall be downcast,

عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ۝٣

3Laboring, toiling,

تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً۝٤

4Entering into burning fire,

تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ ءَانِيَةٍ۝٥

5Made to drink from a boiling spring.

لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ۝٦

6They shall have no food but of thorns,

لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِن جُوعٍ۝٧

7Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger.

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ۝٨

8(Other) faces on that day shall be happy,

لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ۝٩

9Well-pleased because of their striving,

فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ۝١٠

10In a lofty garden,

لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَٰغِيَةً۝١١

11Wherein you shall not hear vain talk.

فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ۝١٢

12Therein is a fountain flowing,

فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ۝١٣

13Therein are thrones raised high,

وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ۝١٤

14And drinking-cups ready placed,

وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ۝١٥

15And cushions set in a row,

وَزَرَابِىُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ۝١٦

16And carpets spread out.

أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ۝١٧

17Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created?

وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ۝١٨

18And the heaven, how it is reared aloft,

وَإِلَى ٱلْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ۝١٩

19And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed,

وَإِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ۝٢٠

20And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse?

فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ۝٢١

21Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder.

لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ۝٢٢

22You are not a watcher over them;

إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ۝٢٣

23But whoever turns back and disbelieves,

فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَكْبَرَ۝٢٤

24Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement.

إِنَّ إِلَيْنَآ إِيَابَهُمْ۝٢٥

25Surely to Us is their turning back,

ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم۝٢٦

26Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account.
