Elucidation: I say, by this report the hadiths of this chapter are reconciled. What appears from all the reports, when they are set side by side, is that concealing knowledge from those worthy of it and from one who does not reject it and from whom no blameworthy fear or harm is to be expected is, in many places, forbidden. But where there is dissimulation and fear of harm, or rejection, or non-acceptance owing to weakness of intellect, failure to understand, or the hearer's confusion, it is not permissible to make knowledge manifest. Rather, one must lay upon people only as much as their intellects can bear, short of exhausting their forbearance.

Al-Mahasin: Abu Bakr al-Hadrami related from Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, that he said: A man speaks a word, and by that word God fixes faith in the heart of another, so that both of them are forgiven.

Al-Ghayba of al-Shaykh al-Tusi: Abu al-Tufayl said: I heard 'Ali, peace be upon him, saying: A blind and dark sedition will seize you, and none will be saved but the "nawama". They said: O Abu al-Hasan, what is the "nawama"? He said: One of whom people do not know what is in his heart.
Elucidation: Al-Jazari said: "nawama" means an obscure man to whom no attention is paid; or one who does not distinguish the people of good from the people of evil; or one who keeps silent in sedition so that nothing of him becomes apparent in it.

Khunays said: Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: Keep our cause hidden and do not divulge it; for if you keep the secret you will be honoured in this world, and in the Hereafter God will set it as a light before your two eyes that will lead you to Paradise. O Mu'alla! Whoever divulges our hadith is abased in this world, and
