obeys enjoys security and is worthy of the divine glad tidings; but one who disobeys God's command shall be in despair and regret.

Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: Musa b. 'Imran, peace be upon him, had among his companions a close associate who had more knowledge than the rest. One day he asked leave of him to go and visit his kin. Moses, peace be upon him, said: Keeping ties of kinship is one of the rights relatives have upon one another — but beware of relying upon this world! For God, exalted, has laid the burden of knowledge upon your shoulders, which you must not squander by choosing for yourself some support other than God. The man said: I have no aim but good. He arose and set out to visit his kin, and the journey grew long, until Moses, peace be upon him, asked after him, but no one knew anything of him. Moses asked Gabriel about him, saying: Do you know anything of my companion? Gabriel said: Yes — he is now in the form of an ape, standing at a door with a chain about his neck. Moses was alarmed at this news and rose to pray. He laid his sorrow before God and prayed, saying: My Lord, deliver my companion from this grievous state! God said to Moses: O Moses, if you were to call upon Me for your companion's deliverance until the veins of your neck were severed, I would not answer your prayer concerning him. I entrusted the burden of knowledge to his shoulders, but he squandered that knowledge and turned to this world.

Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: Knowledge goes with action; whoever learns, acts, and whoever acts, learns. Knowledge seeks action: if it is acted upon as it requires, well and good; otherwise knowledge departs.

Chapter 10: The right of the scholar

The verses:

al-Kahf: "Moses said to him: May I follow you, on condition that you teach me of the right guidance you have been taught? He said: You will not be able to bear with me patiently." "And how can you bear patiently with that which you do not encompass in knowledge?" "He said: God willing, you shall find me patient, and I shall not disobey you in any matter." "He said: If you follow me, then ask me nothing until I myself make mention of it to you." "Moses said: If I ask you about anything after this, then keep company with me no more; you will have had excuse enough from me."

Al-Majlisi says: From the manner in which Moses, peace be upon him, kept company with this godly sage and learned from him, many rules become clear, which are: 1. the etiquette of teaching and learning;

That is, he did not succeed.
Al-tarquwa": the front of the throat at the top of the chest, where the breath rises.
