آلُ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِمْ يَقُولُونَهُ قَالَ لَا يَسَعُكُمْ حَتَّى تَسْتَيْقِنُوا.

the family of Muhammad, God's blessings be upon them, have said it"? He said: It is not permissible for you until you are certain.

«61»- كا، الكافي يب، تهذيب الأحكام سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنِ ابْنِ بُكَيْرٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي جَعْفَرٍ عليه السلام إِنَّ أُمِّي كَانَتْ جَعَلَتْ عَلَيْهَا نَذْراً إِنِ اللَّهُ رَدَّ عَلَيْهَا بَعْضَ وُلْدِهَا مِنْ شَيْ ءٍ كَانَتْ تَخَافُ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ تَصُومَ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ الَّذِي يَقْدَمُ فِيهِ مَا بَقِيَتْ فَخَرَجَتْ مَعَنَا مُسَافِرَةً إِلَى مَكَّةَ فَأَشْكَلَ عَلَيْنَا لِمَكَانِ النَّذْرِ أَ تَصُومُ أَوْ تُفْطِرُ فَقَالَ لَا تَصُومُ وَضَعَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ عَنْهَا حَقَّهُ وَ تَصُومُ هِيَ مَا جَعَلَتْ عَلَى نَفْسِهَا الْخَبَرَ.

Al-Kafi and Tahzib al-Ahkam: Zurara says: I said in the presence of Imam al-Baqir, peace be upon him: My mother has vowed that if God brings back one of her children safe from something she feared for him, she will fast the day of his arrival for the rest of her life. As it happened, on that day he travelled with us toward Mecca, and on account of my mother's vow the matter became difficult for us. What is she to do? Is she to fast or to break the fast? He said: Let her not fast; God has lifted His right from her — is she then to fast a fast she has taken upon herself?!

«62»- كِتَابُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ الْجُعْفِيِّ عَنِ الْبَاقِرِ عليه السلام قَالَ: إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ بَرَكَةٌ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِ وَ إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ حُجَّةُ اللَّهِ.

The book of Ja'far b. Muhammad b. Shurayh: Jabir al-Ju'fi from Imam al-Baqir, peace be upon him, that he said: The believer is a blessing upon the believer, and the believer is God's proof.

أقول: سيأتي كثير من أخبار هذا الباب في كتاب العدل و كثير منها متفرقة في الأبواب الماضية و الآتية و سنورد جميعها مع ما يتيسر من القول فيها في المجلد الخامس و العشرين إن شاء اللّٰه تعالى.

I say: Many of the reports of this chapter will come in the Book of Justice, and most of them are scattered in the chapters past and to come; and I shall bring all the reports together with the research, God willing, in volume 25.

باب 34 البدع و الرأي و المقاييس

Chapter 34: Innovations, opinion and analogies

الآيات؛

The verses

الكهف: «وَ لا يُشْرِكُ فِي حُكْمِهِ أَحَداً»(26)

"And He takes no one as a partner in His rule."

القصص: «وَ مَنْ أَضَلُّ مِمَّنِ اتَّبَعَ هَواهُ بِغَيْرِ هُدىً مِنَ اللَّهِ»(50)

"And who is more astray than one who follows his desire without guidance from God?"

الروم: «بَلِ اتَّبَعَ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا أَهْواءَهُمْ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ»(29)

"Rather those who do wrong have followed their own desires without any knowledge."

ص: «وَ لا تَتَّبِعِ الْهَوى فَيُضِلَّكَ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَضِلُّونَ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ لَهُمْ عَذابٌ شَدِيدٌ بِما نَسُوا يَوْمَ الْحِسابِ»(26)

"And beware of following desire, for it will lead you astray from God's way. Truly those who stray from God's way will have a severe punishment [as a recompense] for having forgotten the Day of Reckoning."

حمعسق: «وَ اسْتَقِمْ كَما أُمِرْتَ وَ لا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْواءَهُمْ وَ قُلْ آمَنْتُ بِما أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ مِنْ كِتابٍ»(15) (و قال تعالى): «أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكاءُ شَرَعُوا لَهُمْ مِنَ الدِّينِ ما لَمْ يَأْذَنْ بِهِ اللَّهُ»(21)

"And stand firm as you have been commanded, and do not follow their desires, and say: I believe in whatever Book God has sent down." "Or have they partners who have laid down for them a religion in what God has not permitted?"

الجاثية: «ثُمَّ جَعَلْناكَ عَلى شَرِيعَةٍ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ فَاتَّبِعْها وَ لا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْواءَ الَّذِينَ لا يَعْلَمُونَ إِنَّهُمْ لَنْ يُغْنُوا عَنْكَ مِنَ اللَّهِ شَيْئاً»(18 ، 19)

"Then We set you upon a way of the matter [that comes] from [God's] command. So follow it, and do not follow the desires of those who do not know. They will never avail you anything against God [and will be of no use to you at all]."
