Majalis al-Mufid: Ghiyath b. Ibrahim related the like of it from Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him. Al-Jazari said: “al-sabbaha” and “al-musabbiha” are the finger next to the thumb, so called because one points with it at the time of glorifying God — end of quotation. The purpose is to make clear that his religion, may God bless him and his family, is joined to the rising of the Hour and that no other religion abrogates it, and that the Hour is near. His words, may God bless him and his family, “and the worst of matters are those newly introduced” — that is, those newly invented. His words, may God bless him and his family, “and every innovation is misguidance”: an innovation is every opinion, religion, ruling or act of worship that has not come from the Lawgiver specifically, nor within the scope of a general ruling. By this the falsity becomes evident of what some of our companions have said, following the Sunnis, that innovation is divided according to the division of the five rulings.

و قال الجزري الكلّ العيال و منه الحديث من ترك كلّا فإليّ و علیّ و قال فيه من ترك ضياعا فإلی الضياع العيال و أصله مصدر ضاع يضيع ضياعا فسمی العيال بالمصدر كما تقول من مات و ترك فقرا أي فقراء و إن كسرت الضاد كان جمع ضائع كجائع و جياع.

And al-Jazari says: "Kall" means dependents; and of this is the hadith "Whoever leaves dependents, they are my concern and my charge." And he says: In it there comes "Whoever leaves behind those who are lost, they are my concern"; "diya'" is the same as dependents, and its root is a verbal noun from "da'a yadi'u diya'an", so the dependents are called by the name of the verbal noun, as you say "Whoever died and left poverty", meaning the poor. And if you read the dad with a kasra, it is the plural of "da'i'", like "ja'i'" and "jiya'".

Al-Khisal: Imam 'Ali, peace be upon him, said: Practice is of two kinds: a practice concerning an obligation, the taking of which is guidance and the leaving of which is misguidance; and a practice concerning what is not obligatory, the taking of which is a merit and the leaving of which is no sin.

Al-Mahasin: Al-Nawfali related the like of this hadith. Amali al-Shaykh al-Tusi: 'Abd al-'Azim al-Hasani related the like of that hadith from Imam al-Baqir, peace be upon him.

«14»- نهج، نهج البلاغة قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عليه السلام مَا اخْتَلَفَتْ دَعْوَتَانِ إِلَّا كَانَتْ إِحْدَاهُمَا ضَلَالَةً.

Nahj al-Balagha: The Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him, said: Two differing calls never arise but that one of them is false!

«15»- وَ قَالَ عليه السلام مَا أُحْدِثَتْ بِدْعَةٌ إِلَّا تُرِكَ بِهَا سُنَّةٌ فَاتَّقُوا الْبِدَعَ وَ الْزَمُوا الْمَهْيَعَ١ إِنَّ عَوَازِمَ الْأُمُورِ أَفْضَلُهَا وَ إِنَّ مُحْدَثَاتِهَا شِرَارُهَا.

The Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him, said: No innovation is introduced into religion but that a practice is abandoned by it; so guard against innovations and keep to the straight path and the clear highway of truth. The best of affairs is a practice over which years have passed and whose soundness has been established, and the worst of affairs is what has newly appeared and whose future is not clear.
