"God and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who believe, send blessings upon him and submit fully to his command."

Ma'ani al-Akhbar, al-Khisal and Amali of al-Saduq: Shu'ayb al-Haddad says: I heard Imam Ja'far b. Muhammad, peace be upon him, saying: Our hadith is hard and hard to bear; none carries its burden but an angel brought near, or a prophet sent with a mission, or a servant whose heart God has tested for faith, or a fortified city. 'Amr, Shu'ayb's pupil, asked him: O Shu'ayb, which is the fortified city? He said: I myself asked Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, its meaning, and he said to me: A heart gathered and at rest.

Elucidation: What is meant by "the gathered heart" is a heart that is not scattered by following doubts and lower desires, and into which false fancies and misleading uncertainties do not enter. The setting of it against the third is merely a matter of expression — that is, if you wish, say it this way, and if you wish, that way; or what is meant by the first is the perfect among the believers, and by the second the believers who are below that in perfection.

Al-Khisal: 'Ali, peace be upon him, said in the hadith of the four hundred: Keep company with people according to the measure of their understanding; leave aside what they reject, and do not burden yourselves and us with it. Truly our hadith is hard and hard to bear; none carries its burden but an angel brought near, or a prophet sent with a mission, or a servant whose heart God has tested for faith.

Al-Khara'ij wa al-Jara'ih: Abu Basir and Muhammad b. Muslim related the like of that hadith.

Apparently "Buzurj" is the arabised form of "buzurg", and perhaps he is 'Ali b. Abi Salih. Al-Najashi says on p. 181 of his Rijal: 'Ali b. Abi Salih — and Abu Salih's name is Muhammad — titled Buzurj, with the kunya Abu al-Hasan, of Kufa, a corn-dealer; he was not of much account in doctrine or hadith and is near to weakness. Humayd said in his Fihrist: I heard several books from him, among them: Kitab Thawab Inna Anzalnahu, Kitab al-Azilla, Kitab al-Bada' wa al-Mashi'a, Kitab al-Thalath wa al-Arba', Kitab al-Janna wa al-Nar, Kitab al-Nawadir, Kitab al-Malahim; and I do not know whether these books are his or whether he related them from other men.
