"That is the Book, there is no doubt in it, a guidance for the God-fearing" — he said: that is, a clear exposition for our followers; "those who believe in the unseen, and establish the prayer, and spend of what We have provided them" — they gain knowledge of what We teach them, and they themselves recite that measure of the Qur'an which We have taught them, and they teach it to others.

Basa'ir al-Darajat: Jabir related from Imam al-Baqir, peace be upon him, that the Messenger of God — may God bless him and his family — said: For the teacher of good the beasts of the earth, the fish of the sea, all living things of the air, and all the people of heaven and earth seek forgiveness. Indeed the scholars and the students are equal in reward on the Day of Resurrection, and they outstrip one another like two racehorses.

Basa'ir al-Darajat: Ibn Asbat related from Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, that the Commander of the Faithful said: The reward of the learned believer is greater than that of the faster, the one who prays, and the one who strives in the way of God; and when the learned believer dies, a breach appears in Islam which nothing can repair until the Day of Resurrection.
