بيان: لأنه أخبر النبي صلى اللّٰه عليه و آله أنه كل ما وقع في بني إسرائيل يقع في هذه الأمة ١ و يدل على أنه لا ينبغي نقل كلام لا يوثق به.
Because the Messenger of God, may God bless him and his family, informed us that whatever befell the Children of Israel will befall this community too; and this hadith indicates that it is not fitting to transmit words you do not trust.
«6»- ير، بصائر الدرجات مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى عَنْ فَضَالَةَ عَنْ أَبَانٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ عليه السلام فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى وَ مَنْ يَقْتَرِفْ حَسَنَةً نَزِدْ لَهُ فِيها حُسْناً قَالَ فَقَالَ الِاقْتِرَافُ التَّسْلِيمُ لَنَا وَ الصِّدْقُ عَلَيْنَا وَ أَنْ لَا يَكْذِبَ عَلَيْنَا.
Basa'ir al-Darajat: Muhammad b. Muslim relates from Imam al-Baqir, peace be upon him, that concerning the verse "And whoever earns a good deed, We shall increase for him good in it" he said: "Earning" is submitting to us, speaking truthfully about us, and not lying against us.
«7»- كش، رجال الكشي وَجَدْتُ فِي كِتَابِ جَبْرَئِيلَ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ بِخَطِّهِ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفُضَيْلِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنِ الْهَيْثَمِ بْنِ وَاقِدٍ عَنْ مَيْمُونِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ آبَائِهِ عليهم السلام قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللّٰه عليه و آله مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَيْنَا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ حَشَرَهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَعْمَى يَهُودِيّاً وَ إِنْ أَدْرَكَ الدَّجَّالَ آمَنَ بِهِ فِي قَبْرِهِ.
Rijal al-Kashshi: Maymun b. 'Abd Allah relates from Imam al-Sadiq and his forefathers, peace be upon them, that the Prophet said: Whoever lies against the People of the House will be raised up on the Day of Resurrection in the form of a blind Jew. If he lives to see the Dajjal he will believe in him, and if he does not live to see him he will believe in him in his grave.
«8»- نهج، نهج البلاغة سَأَلَ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عليه السلام رَجُلٌ أَنْ يُعَرِّفَهُ مَا الْإِيمَانُ فَقَالَ إِذَا كَانَ غَدٌ فَأْتِنِي حَتَّى أُخْبِرَكَ عَلَى أَسْمَاعِ النَّاسِ فَإِنْ نَسِيتَ مَقَالَتِي حَفِظَهَا عَلَيْكَ غَيْرُكَ فَإِنَّ الْكَلَامَ كَالشَّارِدَةِ يَثْقَفُهَا هَذَا وَ يُخْطِئُهَا هَذَا.
Nahj al-Balagha: A man asked the Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him, to teach him what faith is. He said: Come to me tomorrow, that I may answer you in the midst of people, so that if you forget my words another may commit them to memory; for speech is like a fleeing quarry: one man catches it and another loses it.
«9»- وَ قَالَ عليه السلام فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَى الْحَارِثِ الْهَمْدَانِيِّ وَ لَا تُحَدِّثِ النَّاسَ بِكُلِّ مَا سَمِعْتَ فَكَفَى بِذَلِكَ كَذِباً وَ لَا تَرُدَّ عَلَى النَّاسِ كُلَّ مَا حَدَّثُوكَ بِهِ فَكَفَى بِذَلِكَ جَهْلًا.
The Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him, wrote in a letter to al-Harith al-Hamdani: Do not convey to people everything you hear, for that is a mark of lying; and do not attribute error to everything people tell you, for that suffices for your ignorance.
«10»- ما، الأمالي للشيخ الطوسي الْمُفِيدُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ جُمْهُورٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُفِيدِ الْجَرْجَرَائِيِّ عَنِ الْمُعَمَّرِ أَبِي الدُّنْيَا عَنْ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عليه السلام قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى اللّٰه عليه و آله يَقُولُ مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَيَّ مُتَعَمِّداً فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ.
Amali of al-Shaykh al-Tusi: Mu'ammar Abu al-Dunya relates from 'Ali, peace be upon him: I heard the Prophet saying: Whoever lies against me deliberately, his place is the Fire.
«11»- كَنْزُ الْكَرَاجُكِيِّ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللّٰه عليه و آله نَضَّرَ اللَّهُ امْرَأً سَمِعَ مِنَّا حَدِيثاً فَأَدَّاهُ كَمَا سَمِعَ فَرُبَّ مُبَلَّغٍ أَوْعَى مِنْ سَامِعٍ.
Kanz al-Karajaki: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and his family, said: May God help one who hears a hadith from us and conveys it to others as he heard it, without adding or subtracting; for often the one who conveys preserves it better than the one who heard it.
«12»- وَ قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عليه السلام عَلَيْكُمْ بِالدِّرَايَاتِ لَا بِالرِّوَايَاتِ.
The Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him, said: You must have deep understanding of hadith, not mere narration.
«13»- وَ قَالَ عليه السلام هِمَّةُ السُّفَهَاءِ الرِّوَايَةُ وَ هِمَّةُ الْعُلَمَاءِ الدِّرَايَةُ.
The Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him, said: The ambition of the foolish is to narrate, and the ambition of the learned is to understand.
