who is truthful, concerning the lawful and the unlawful, is better for you than all upon which the sun rises in the east until it sets in the west.

Majalis of al-Mufid: Ibn Taghlib related from Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, that he said: The grieving breath drawn over the wrong done to us is glorification of God; sorrow on our account is worship; and the concealing of our secrets is striving in the way of God. Then Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: This hadith ought to be written in gold.

Farhat al-Ghari: Al-Husayn b. Muhammad related from his brother Ja'far, with his chain: I was with Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, and the Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him, was mentioned. He said: By God, O son of Marid, whoever visits my grandfather knowing his right, God records for him for every step an accepted hajj and 'umra. O son of Marid! By God, the feet that have been covered with dust in visiting the Commander of the Faithful, on foot or mounted, will not burn in the Fire of Hell. O son of Marid, write this hadith in gold!
Elucidation: It is possible to argue from these two reports for the permissibility of writing hadith in gold, and even for the recommendedness of writing choice reports in it; but what appears is that the Imam's purpose, peace be upon him, in these two reports is to state the loftiness of the hadith's standing, and the literal sense is not intended in expressions of this kind.
