و وجدت في بعض النسخ القديمة في مفتتح كتاب عيون أخبار الرضا عليه السلام حدثني الشيخ المؤتمن الوالد أبو الحسين علي بن أبي طالب بن محمد بن أبي طالب التميمي المجاور قال حدثني السيد الأوحد الفقيه العالم عز الدين شرف السادة أبو محمد شرف شاه بن أبي الفتوح محمد بن الحسين بن زياد العلوي الحسيني الأفطسي النيسابوري أدام اللّٰه رفعته في شهور سنة ثلاث و سبعين و خمس مائة بمشهد مولانا أمير المؤمنين علي بن أبي طالب صلوات اللّٰه عليه عند مجاورته به قال حدثني الشيخ الفقيه العالم أبو الحسن علي بن عبد الصمد التميمي رضي اللّٰه عنه في داره بنيسابور في شهور سنة إحدى و أربعين و خمس مائة قال حدثني السيد الإمام الزاهد أبو البركات الخوزي رضي اللّٰه عنه قال حدثني الشيخ الإمام العالم الأوحد أبو جعفر محمد بن علي بن الحسين بن موسى بن بابويه القمي الفقيه مصنف هذا الكتاب رضي اللّٰه عنه.
And I found in some of the old copies, at the opening of the Kitab 'Uyun Akhbar al-Rida, peace be upon him: There related to me the Shaykh, the trusted, the father, Abu al-Husayn 'Ali b. Abi Talib b. Muhammad b. Abi Talib al-Tamimi, the resident. He said: There related to me the Sayyid, the peerless, the jurist, the learned, 'Izz al-Din, the honour of the sayyids, Abu Muhammad Sharaf Shah b. Abi al-Futuh Muhammad b. al-Husayn b. Ziyad al-'Alawi al-Husayni al-Aftasi al-Naysaburi — may God perpetuate his elevation — in the months of the year five hundred and seventy-three, at the shrine of our master the Commander of the Faithful 'Ali b. Abi Talib, God's blessings be upon him, during his residence there. He said: There related to me the Shaykh, the jurist, the learned, Abu al-Hasan 'Ali b. 'Abd al-Samad al-Tamimi, may God be pleased with him, in his house at Naysabur in the months of the year five hundred and forty-one. He said: There related to me the Sayyid, the Imam, the ascetic, Abu al-Barakat al-Khuzi, may God be pleased with him. He said: There related to me the Shaykh, the Imam, the learned, the peerless, Abu Ja'far Muhammad b. 'Ali b. al-Husayn b. Musa b. Babawayh al-Qummi, the jurist, the compiler of this book, may God be pleased with him.
و لنذكر ما وجدناه في مفتتح كتاب سليم بن قيس ١و هو هذا أخبرني الرئيس العفيف أبو التقي ٢هبة اللّٰه بن نما بن علي بن حمدون رضي اللّٰه عنه قراءة عليه بداره بحلة الجامعين في جمادي الأولى سنة خمس و ستين و خمس مائة قال حدثني الشيخ الأمين العالم أبو عبد اللّٰه الحسين بن أحمد بن طحال المقدادي المجاور قراءة عليه بمشهد مولانا أمير المؤمنين صلوات اللّٰه عليه سنة عشرين و خمس مائة قال حدثنا الشيخ المفيد أبو علي الحسن بن محمد الطوسي رضي اللّٰه عنه في رجب سنة تسعين و أربعمائة و أخبرني الشيخ الفقيه أبو عبد اللّٰه الحسن بن هبة اللّٰه بن رطبة عن الشيخ المفيد أبي علي عن والده فيما سمعته يقرأ عليه بمشهد مولانا السبط الشهيد أبي عبد اللّٰه الحسين بن علي صلوات اللّٰه عليه في المحرم من سنة ستين و خمس مائة.
And let us mention what we found at the opening of the Kitab Sulaym b. Qays (1), which is this: There informed me the chief, the chaste, Abu al-Tuqa (2) Hibat Allah b. Nama b. 'Ali b. Hamdun, may God be pleased with him, by recitation to him at his house in Hilla of the Two Mosques in Jumada al-Ula of the year five hundred and sixty-five. He said: There related to me the Shaykh, the trusted, the learned, Abu 'Abd Allah al-Husayn b. Ahmad b. Tahhal al-Miqdadi, the resident, by recitation to him at the shrine of our master the Commander of the Faithful, God's blessings be upon him, in the year five hundred and twenty. He said: There related to us the Shaykh al-Mufid Abu 'Ali al-Hasan b. Muhammad al-Tusi, may God be pleased with him, in Rajab of the year four hundred and ninety. And there informed me the Shaykh, the jurist, Abu 'Abd Allah al-Hasan b. Hibat Allah b. Rutba, from the Shaykh al-Mufid Abu 'Ali, from his father, in what I heard being recited to him at the shrine of our master the martyred grandson Abu 'Abd Allah al-Husayn b. 'Ali, God's blessings be upon him, in Muharram of the year five hundred and sixty.
