و كتاب الغرر مشتمل على أخبار جليلة مع شرحها و مؤلفه من السادة الأفاضل يروي عن ابن شهرآشوب و علي بن سعيد بن هبة اللّٰه الراوندي و عبد اللّٰه بن جعفر الدوريستي و غيرهم من الأفاضل الأعلام.
The Book of al-Ghurar contains eminent reports together with their exposition, and its author is among the excellent Sayyids. He transmits from Ibn Shahrashub, from 'Ali b. Sa'id b. Hibat Allah al-Rawandi, from 'Abd Allah b. Ja'far al-Duristi, and from other eminent and leading scholars.
و المزار الكبير يعلم من كيفية إسناده أنه كتاب معتبر و قد أخذ منه السيدان ابنا طاوس كثيرا من الأخبار و الزيارات و قال الشيخ منتجب الدين في الفهرست السيد أبو البركات محمد بن إسماعيل المشهدي فقيه محدث ثقة قرأ على الإمام محيي الدين الحسين بن المظفر الحمداني و قال في ترجمة الحمداني أخبرنا بكتبه السيد أبو البركات المشهدي.
As for al-Mazar al-Kabir, the manner of its chains shows it to be a reliable book; the two Sayyids, the sons of Tawus, took many reports and visitations from it. Al-Shaykh Muntajab al-Din said in the Fihrist: "Al-Sayyid Abu al-Barakat Muhammad b. Isma'il al-Mashhadi, a trustworthy jurist and traditionist; he studied under the Imam Muhyi al-Din al-Husayn b. al-Muzaffar al-Hamadani." And in his notice on al-Hamadani he said: "Al-Sayyid Abu al-Barakat al-Mashhadi informed us of his books."
و أما الكراجكي فهو من أجلة العلماء و الفقهاء و المتكلمين و أسند إليه جميع أرباب الإجازات و كتابه كنز الفوائد من الكتب المشهورة التي أخذ عنه جل من أتى بعده و سائر كتبه في غاية المتانة و قال الشيخ منتجب الدين في فهرسته الشيخ العالم الثقة أبو الفتح محمد بن علي الكراجكي فقيه الأصحاب قرأ على السيد المرتضى علم الهدى و الشيخ الموفق أبي جعفر رحمهما اللّٰه و له تصانيف منها كتاب التعجب و كتاب النوادر أخبرنا الوالد عن والده عنه انتهى و يظهر من الإجازات أنه كان أستاد ابن البراج.
As for al-Karajaki, he is among the most eminent of scholars, jurists and theologians; all the holders of authorisations give their chains to him. His Book of Kanz al-Fawa'id is among the well-known books from which most who came after him drew, and the rest of his books are of the utmost solidity. Al-Shaykh Muntajab al-Din said in his Fihrist: "The learned and trustworthy Shaykh Abu al-Fath Muhammad b. 'Ali al-Karajaki, the jurist of the companions; he studied under al-Sayyid al-Murtada 'Alam al-Huda and al-Shaykh al-Muwaffaq Abu Ja'far, God have mercy on them both. He has compositions, among them the Book of al-Ta'ajjub and the Book of al-Nawadir. Our father informed us, from his father, from him." End of quotation. It appears from the authorisations that he was the teacher of Ibn al-Barraj.
و الشيخ منتجب الدين من مشاهير الثقات و المحدثين و فهرسته في غاية الشهرة و هو من أولاد الحسين بن علي بن بابويه و الصدوق عمه الأعلى و قال الشهيد الثاني في كتاب الإجازة و أجزت له أن يروي عني جميع ما رواه علي بن عبيد اللّٰه بن الحسن بن الحسين بن الحسن بن الحسين بن علي بن الحسين بن بابويه و جميع ما اشتمل عليه كتاب فهرسته لأسماء العلماء المتأخرين عن الشيخ أبي جعفر الطوسي و كان هذا الرجل حسن الضبط كثير الرواية عن مشايخ عديدة انتهى و أربعينه مشتمل على أخبار غريبة لطيفة.
Al-Shaykh Muntajab al-Din is among the well-known trustworthy men and traditionists, and his Fihrist is of the utmost fame. He is among the descendants of al-Husayn b. 'Ali b. Babawayh, and al-Saduq is his great-uncle. Al-Shahid al-Thani said in the Book of Authorisation: "And I have authorised him to transmit from me all that was transmitted by 'Ali b. 'Ubayd Allah b. al-Hasan b. al-Husayn b. al-Hasan b. al-Husayn b. 'Ali b. al-Husayn b. Babawayh, and all that his Fihrist contains of the names of the scholars later than al-Shaykh Abu Ja'far al-Tusi. This man was of good precision and transmitted a great deal from numerous shaykhs." End of quotation. His Arba'in contains rare and elegant reports.
و كتاب التحفة كتاب كثير الفوائد لكن لم ننقل منه إلا نادرا لكون أخباره مأخوذة من كتب أشهر منه.
The Book of al-Tuhfa is a book of many benefits, yet we have transmitted from it only rarely, since its reports are taken from books better known than it.
