And you are in the passing of night and day, in terms that are being lessened and deeds that are being preserved; and death comes upon you suddenly. So whoever sows good reaps gladness, and whoever sows evil reaps regret.
توضيح: بغتة أي فجأة و الغبطة بالكسر السرور و حسن الحال.
Clarification: baghtatan — that is, suddenly. And al-ghibta, with kasra, is joy and goodness of state.

«11»- 'a, 'Ilal al-Shara'i': Ibn al-Walid, from al-Saffar, from Ibn Hashim, from Ibn Marrar (1), from Yunus, raising it, who said: Luqman said to his son: O my son, choose the gatherings upon your own eye. If you see a people remembering God, mighty and majestic, then sit with them; for if you are a knower, your knowledge will profit you and they will increase you in knowledge; and if you are ignorant, they will teach you; and perhaps God will overshadow them with a mercy, and it will include you along with them. And if you see a people not remembering God, then do not sit with them; for if you are a knower, your knowledge will not profit you; and if you are ignorant, they will increase you in ignorance; and perhaps God will overshadow them with a punishment, and it will include you along with them.
بيان: اختر المجالس على عينك أي على بصيرة منك أو بعينك فإن على قد تجي ء بمعنى الباء أو رجحها على عينك و على الأخير التفصيل لبيان المجلس الذي ينبغي أن يختار على العين.
Elucidation: "choose the gatherings upon your own eye" — that is, upon insight from yourself; or "with your eye", for 'ala sometimes comes in the sense of the ba'; or "prefer them above your own eye". And upon the last, the detailing is a setting forth of the gathering that ought to be chosen above the eye.
