in His knowledge and the knowledge of those brought near to His presence.

«47»- ghw, Ghawali al-La'ali: it is related from al-Miqdad b. al-Aswad, who said: I heard the Messenger of God — may God bless him and his family — saying: Indeed the angels lay down their wings for the seeker of knowledge, so that he treads upon them, in contentment with him.

«48»- ghw, Ghawali al-La'ali: The Prophet — may God bless him and his family — said: A single jurist is harder upon Iblis than a thousand worshippers.

«49»- And he — may God bless him and his family — said: Whomever God intends good for, He gives him understanding in religion.

«50»- And he — may God bless him and his family — said: Whoever does not endure the humiliation of learning for an hour remains in the humiliation of ignorance forever.

«51»- And he — may God bless him and his family — said: The seeker of knowledge does not die until his striving enjoys according to the measure of his toil.

Elucidation: aw here is in the sense of "until" or "unless". And al-jidd, with kasra, is exertion in a matter; and the ascribing of enjoyment to striving is figurative.

«52»- ghw, Ghawali al-La'ali: The Prophet — may God bless him and his family — said: Knowledge is stored up with its people, and you have been commanded to seek it from them.

«53»- And al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: If people knew what is in knowledge, they would surely seek it, though it were at the shedding of life-blood and the plunging into deeps.

Elucidation: al-muhja is blood, or the blood of the heart, and the spirit. And al-lujja is the main body of water.

«54»- ghw, Ghawali al-La'ali: The Prophet — may God bless him and his family — said: The seeking of knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim man and Muslim woman.

«55»- And he — may God bless him and his family — said: Seek knowledge, even in China.

«56»- And he — may God bless him and his family — said: There is no blame upon one who does not know, that he should ask about what he does not know.

«57»- ghw, Ghawali al-La'ali: The Prophet — may God bless him and his family — said: Whoever goes out from his house to seek a door of knowledge, that he may benefit by it and teach it to another, God writes for him, for every step (1), the worship of a thousand years — the fasting of them and the standing of them in prayer; and the angels encompass him with their wings; and the birds of heaven and the fish of the sea and the beasts of the land pray for him; and God settles him in the station of seventy truthful ones; and it is better for him than that the whole world were his and he should set it in the hereafter.
