«24»- ما، الأمالي للشيخ الطوسي جَمَاعَةٌ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُفَضَّلِ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ الْحَسَنِيِّ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ عليهما السلام قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي الرِّضَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُوسَى الرِّضَا عَنْ أَبِيهِ مُوسَى بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ عليهما السلام قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى اللّٰه عليه و آله يَقُولُ طَلَبُ الْعِلْمِ فَرِيضَةٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ فَاطْلُبُوا الْعِلْمَ مِنْ مَظَانِّهِ وَ اقْتَبِسُوهُ مِنْ أَهْلِهِ فَإِنَّ تَعْلِيمَهُ لِلَّهِ حَسَنَةٌ وَ طَلَبَهُ عِبَادَةٌ وَ الْمُذَاكَرَةَ بِهِ تَسْبِيحٌ وَ الْعَمَلَ بِهِ جِهَادٌ وَ تَعْلِيمَهُ مَنْ لَا يَعْلَمُهُ صَدَقَةٌ وَ بَذْلَهُ لِأَهْلِهِ قُرْبَةٌ إِلَى اللَّهِ تَعَالَى لِأَنَّهُ مَعَالِمُ الْحَلَالِ وَ الْحَرَامِ وَ مَنَارُ سُبُلِ الْجَنَّةِ وَ الْمُونِسُ فِي الْوَحْشَةِ وَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي الْغُرْبَةِ وَ الْوَحْدَةِ وَ الْمُحَدِّثُ فِي الْخَلْوَةِ وَ الدَّلِيلُ عَلَى السَّرَّاءِ وَ الضَّرَّاءِ وَ السِّلَاحُ عَلَى الْأَعْدَاءِ وَ الزَّيْنُ عِنْدَ الْأَخِلَّاءِ يَرْفَعُ اللَّهُ بِهِ أَقْوَاماً فَيَجْعَلُهُمْ فِي الْخَيْرِ قَادَةً تُقْتَبَسُ آثَارُهُمْ وَ يُهْتَدَى بِفِعَالِهِمْ وَ يُنْتَهَى إِلَى رَأْيِهِمْ وَ تَرْغَبُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ فِي خُلَّتِهِمْ وَ بِأَجْنِحَتِهَا تَمْسَحُهُمْ وَ فِي صَلَاتِهَا تُبَارِكُ عَلَيْهِمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُ لَهُمْ كُلُّ رَطْبٍ وَ يَابِسٍ حَتَّى حِيتَانُ الْبَحْرِ وَ هَوَامُّهُ وَ سِبَاعُ الْبَرِّ وَ أَنْعَامُهُ إِنَّ الْعِلْمَ حَيَاةُ الْقُلُوبِ مِنَ الْجَهْلِ وَ ضِيَاءُ الْأَبْصَارِ مِنَ الظُّلْمَةِ وَ قُوَّةُ الْأَبْدَانِ مِنَ الضَّعْفِ يَبْلُغُ بِالْعَبْدِ مَنَازِلَ الْأَخْيَارِ وَ مَجَالِسَ الْأَبْرَارِ وَ الدَّرَجَاتِ الْعُلَى فِي الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ الذِّكْرُ فِيهِ يَعْدِلُ بِالصِّيَامِ وَ مُدَارَسَتُهُ بِالْقِيَامِ بِهِ يُطَاعُ الرَّبُّ وَ يُعْبَدُ وَ بِهِ تُوصَلُ الْأَرْحَامُ وَ بِهِ يُعْرَفُ الْحَلَالُ وَ الْحَرَامُ الْعِلْمُ إِمَامُ الْعَمَلِ وَ الْعَمَلُ تَابِعُهُ يُلْهِمُهُ السُّعَدَاءَ وَ يَحْرِمُهُ الْأَشْقِيَاءَ فَطُوبَى لِمَنْ لَمْ يَحْرِمْهُ اللَّهُ مِنْهُ حَظَّهُ.

«24»- ma, the Amali of al-Shaykh al-Tusi: a group, from Abu al-Mufaddal, from Ja'far b. Muhammad b. Ja'far al-Hasani, may God have mercy on him, from Muhammad b. 'Ali b. al-Husayn b. Zayd b. 'Ali b. al-Husayn b. 'Ali b. Abi Talib, peace be upon them both, who said: There related to me al-Rida 'Ali b. Musa al-Rida, from his father Musa b. Ja'far, from his father Ja'far b. Muhammad, from his father Muhammad b. 'Ali, from his father 'Ali b. al-Husayn, from his father al-Husayn, from the Commander of the Faithful 'Ali b. Abi Talib, peace be upon them both, who said: I heard the Messenger of God — may God bless him and his family — saying: The seeking of knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim. So seek knowledge in the places where it is to be looked for, and take it as a light from its people; for the teaching of it for God's sake is a good deed, and the seeking of it is worship, and the discussing of it is a glorification, and the acting by it is a striving, and the teaching of it to one who does not know it is a charity, and the bestowing of it upon its people is a means of nearness to God the Exalted. Because it is the marks of the lawful and the unlawful, and the beacon of the paths of the Garden, and the intimate in desolation, and the companion in exile and in solitude, and the speaker in seclusion, and the indication in prosperity and in adversity, and the weapon against enemies, and the adornment among friends. By it God raises up peoples and makes them leaders in good: their traces are taken as a light, and guidance is sought by their deeds, and recourse is had to their judgement. And the angels desire their friendship, and with their wings they stroke them, and in their prayers they bless them. There seeks forgiveness for them everything moist and dry, even the fish of the sea and its creeping things, and the beasts of the land and its cattle. Knowledge is the life of hearts from ignorance, and the light of eyes from darkness, and the strength of bodies from weakness. It brings the servant to the stations of the best and the gatherings of the righteous, and to the highest degrees in this world and in the hereafter. Remembrance in it equals fasting, and the studying of it equals night-vigil. By it the Lord is obeyed and worshipped; and by it the ties of kinship are joined; and by it the lawful and the unlawful are known. Knowledge is the leader of action, and action is its follower. He inspires it in the felicitous and withholds it from the wretched. So blessed is he whom God does not deprive of his portion of it.

قَالَ أَبُو الْمُفَضَّلِ وَ حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عِيسَى بْنِ مُدْرِكٍ التَّمَّارُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ الرَّازِيِّ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ كِنَانَةَ بْنِ جَبَلَةَ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ رَجَاءٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ غَنْمٍ عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ قَالَ: تَعَلَّمُوا الْعِلْمَ فَإِنَّ تَعْلِيمَهُ لِلَّهِ حَسَنَةٌ وَ ذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ.

Abu al-Mufaddal said: And there related to us Ja'far b. 'Isa b. Mudrik the date-seller, from Muhammad b. Muslim al-Razi, from Hisham b. 'Abd Allah, from Kinana b. Jabala, from 'Asim b. Raja', from his father, from 'Abd al-Rahman b. Ghanm, from Mu'adh b. Jabal, who said: Learn knowledge, for the teaching of it for God's sake is a good deed — and he mentioned the like of it.

قَالَ وَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ شَاذَانَ الْأَزْدِيُّ عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْخُزَامِيِّ عَنْ حَسَنِ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ الْعَرَبِيِّ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَعْلَى عَنْ أَسْبَاطِ بْنِ نَصْرٍ عَنْ شَيْخٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ
