فرق ، ومن عصى رسول الله ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) بعد وفاته فهو بمنزلة من عصاه في حياته وقد علمت أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله أمرك وأمر عمر بالمسير معي ورأيه لكما خير من رأيكما لأنفسكما ، وما خفي عليه موضعكما ، وقد ولاني عليكما ، ولم يولكما علي وعصيانه نفاق في كلام أضربت عنه هيهنا ، وأوردته مستوفي في كتابي الموسم بعيون البلاغة في أنس الحاضر ونقلة المسافر ، وانتهى 1 .

at all. And whoever disobeys the Messenger of God, may God bless him and his Family, after his death is in the position of one who disobeyed him in his lifetime. You know that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and his Family, commanded you and commanded 'Umar to march with me; and his judgement for you two is better than your own judgement for yourselves, nor was your place hidden from him. He set me in authority over you two, and did not set you two in authority over me; and to disobey him is hypocrisy — in words which I have passed over here, and which I have set out in full in my book entitled 'Uyun al-Balagha fi uns al-hadir wa nuqlat al-musafir.
