Section [her verses at her father's grave (may God bless him and his Family)]. It is related that when the Messenger of God, may God bless him and his Family, was taken, and there befell Fatima, peace be upon her, from the people what befell her, she kept to her bed, and her body wasted and her flesh melted away and her skin dried upon her bone, and she became like a phantom. [1]
And it is also related that she, the blessings of God be upon her, never ceased after her father to be bound about the head, wasted of body, broken in her pillar, weeping of eye, burning of heart, swooning hour after hour and saying to her two sons: Where is your father, who used to honour you and carry you time after time? Where is your father, who was of all people the most tender towards you?
He does not let you walk upon the ground; and I do not think he will ever open this door again, nor carry you upon his shoulder as he never ceased to do with you. [2]
So she was, the peace of God be upon her, as her father had foretold of that day of hers: sorrowful, distressed, weeping; remembering at one time the cutting off of the revelation from her house, and remembering at another the parting from her father; and growing desolate when the night covered her, for the loss of his voice which she used to listen to when he kept vigil with the Qur'an; and then seeing herself abased after she had been, in the days of her father, honoured.
