وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ۝١

1I swear by the night when it draws a veil,

وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ۝٢

2And the day when it shines in brightness,

وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ۝٣

3And the creating of the male and the female,

إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ۝٤

4Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends).

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَٱتَّقَىٰ۝٥

5Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil),

وَصَدَّقَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ۝٦

6And accepts the best,

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ۝٧

7We will facilitate for him the easy end.

وَأَمَّا مَنۢ بَخِلَ وَٱسْتَغْنَىٰ۝٨

8And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah),

وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ۝٩

9And rejects the best,

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ۝١٠

10We will facilitate for him the difficult end.

وَمَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥٓ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰٓ۝١١

11And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes.

إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَىٰ۝١٢

12Surely Ours is it to show the way,

وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْـَٔاخِرَةَ وَٱلْأُولَىٰ۝١٣

13And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former.

فَأَنذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظَّىٰ۝١٤

14Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames:

لَا يَصْلَىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلْأَشْقَى۝١٥

15None shall enter it but the most unhappy,

ٱلَّذِى كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ۝١٦

16Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back.

وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَتْقَى۝١٧

17And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil),

ٱلَّذِى يُؤْتِى مَالَهُۥ يَتَزَكَّىٰ۝١٨

18Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself

وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُۥ مِن نِّعْمَةٍ تُجْزَىٰٓ۝١٩

19And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded,

إِلَّا ٱبْتِغَآءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ۝٢٠

20Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High.

وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَىٰ۝٢١

21And he shall soon be well-pleased.
