and that person answers his call."

Tafsir al-'Ayyashi: Humran related the like of it.

Tafsir al-'Ayyashi: Sa'dan b. Muslim related from Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, concerning the verse "Alif Lam Mim. That is the Book, there is no doubt in it": he said, it is the Book of 'Ali, peace be upon him, in which there is no doubt; and "a guidance for the God-fearing" — the God-fearing are our Shi'a, who believe in the unseen, establish the prayer and spend in charity, and who spread abroad what we have taught them.

Tafsir al-'Ayyashi: Muhammad b. Muslim related from Imam al-Baqir, peace be upon him, concerning the verse "and whoever gives it life, it is as though he had given life to all mankind": he said, its meaning is that he does not kill him although retaliation against him is established; or that he saves him from drowning or burning; and greatest of all is that he brings someone out of error into guidance.

Tafsir al-'Ayyashi: Abu Basir said: I asked Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, about the verse "and whoever gives it life, it is as though he had given life to all mankind." He said: What is meant is bringing someone out of unbelief into faith.

Al-Sara'ir: Al-Fadl related from the seventh Imam, peace be upon him, that he said: Convey good and speak good, and do not be an "imma'a" — do not say, I am with the people and like one of them.

"Imma'a" is with kasra on the alif, a doubled and voweled mim, and an undotted 'ayn.

Do not say to everyone, I am with you; for the Prophet said: There are no more than two paths, the path of good and the path of evil — why, then, is the path of evil dearer to you than the path of good?

Majalis of al-Mufid: Al-Fadl b. Yunus related the like of it.

That is, he called his own soul out of the darkness of ignorance and error to right guidance, and his soul answered him.
Al-Najashi says on p. 137: Sa'dan b. Muslim — his name being 'Abd al-Rahman b. Muslim, Abu al-Hasan al-'Amiri, client of Abu al-'Ala' Kurz b. Hufayd al-'Amiri, of 'Amir Rabi'a — related from Abu 'Abd Allah and Abu al-Hasan, peace be upon them, and lived a long life. There is disagreement about his clan: our teacher 'Uthman b. Hatim b. al-Muntab said he was of Taghlib; Muhammad b. 'Abda said: Sa'dan b. Muslim al-Zuhri, of the Banu Zuhra b. Kilab, an Arab who left offspring — and God knows best. He has a book which a company relates. Al-Sayyid al-Damad, may his secret be sanctified, said: Sa'dan b. Muslim is a shaykh of great standing and lofty rank; he has an Asl related from him by a company of trustworthy and eminent men such as Safwan b. Yahya and others.
That is, he did not exact retaliation from him and did not kill him in place of his own slain.
