Basa'ir al-Darajat: Abu al-Rabi' al-Shami says: I was sitting with Imam al-Baqir, peace be upon him. The Imam rose, raised his head and said: O Abu al-Rabi', there is a hadith current among the Shi'a which they put into words, yet you do not know what its reality is. I said: May I be your ransom, which is it? He said: The saying of my grandfather 'Ali b. Abi Talib, peace be upon him, who said: Our cause is hard and hard to bear; none has the strength to bear it but an angel brought near to God, or a prophet sent with a mission, or a servant whose heart God has tested. For some angels are not brought near and some prophets are not sent with a mission, just as some believers have not been tested.

Al-Khara'ij wa al-Jara'ih: The like of the hadith above is related.

Al-Ikhtisas and Basa'ir al-Darajat: 'Abd al-A'la b. A'yan says: 'Ali b. Hanzala and I went in to Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him. Ibn Hanzala asked a question and the Imam answered. He changed the form of the question, and the Imam answered in another way. The questioning and answering continued thus until he had given four kinds of answer. — The narrator says: — Ibn Hanzala turned to me and said: O Abu Muhammad, we have pinned him down (we ask him a question by way of objection and he gives several kinds of answer). The Imam heard his words and said: Do not say so! You are a God-fearing man. Some matters have one exclusive answer and only one, like the time of Friday, which is only at the sun's decline; and some matters, because of their breadth, admit of several answers, like this very question of yours. By God, I have seventy answers for it.
بيان: لعل ذكر وقت الجمعة على سبيل التمثيل و الغرض بيان أنه لا ينبغي مقايسة
Elucidation: Perhaps the mention of the time of Friday is by way of example, and the purpose is to state that it is not fitting to compare
