his words, peace be upon him, "the whole is as one" — perhaps its meaning is that these qualities are like a single quality, on account of the likeness of their origins, the arising of some of them from others, and the strengthening of some of them by others, as is not hidden.
«26»- m, the Tafsir of the Imam, peace be upon him: from Abu Muhammad, peace be upon him, who said: 'Ali b. al-Husayn, peace be upon them both, said: Whoever's intellect is not the most complete thing in him, his destruction is from the easiest thing in him.
«27»- dh, Rawdat al-Wa'izin: The Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him, said: The breast of the man of intellect is the strongbox of his secret. There is no wealth like the intellect, no poverty like ignorance, no inheritance like discipline, no wealth more beneficial than the intellect, and no intellect like good management.
«28»- dh, Rawdat al-Wa'izin: It is related from Ibn 'Abbas that he said: The foundation of religion is built upon the intellect, and the obligations were imposed upon the intellect. Our Lord is known by the intellect, and recourse is had to Him by the intellect. And the man of intellect is nearer to his Lord than all those who strive without intellect. An atom's weight of the piety of the man of intellect is more excellent than a thousand years of the striving of the ignorant.
«29»- dh, Rawdat al-Wa'izin: The Prophet — may God bless him and his family — said: A man's mainstay is his intellect; and there is no religion for one who has no intellect.
«30»- khts, al-Ikhtisas: al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, said: When God wishes to remove a blessing from a servant, the first thing He alters in him is his intellect.
«31»- And he, peace be upon him, said: The intellect dives for speech and brings it out from the hidden places of the breast, as the diver dives for the pearl concealed in the sea.
«32»- And the Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him, said: People are enemies of what they do not know.
«33»- And he, peace be upon him, said: Four qualities by which a man becomes a chief: chastity, discipline, generosity and intellect.
«34»- And he, peace be upon him, said: There is no wealth more beneficial than the intellect; no affliction greater than ignorance; no backing more reliable than consultation; no scrupulousness like restraint from forbidden things; no worship like reflection; no leader better than divine success; no companion better than goodness of character; and no inheritance better than discipline.

Hamza al-'Alawi, from his father, from al-Rida, from his forefathers, peace be upon them, who said: The Messenger of God — may God bless him and his family — said: The believer's standing is his wealth, his manliness is his intellect, his forbearance is his honour, and his nobility is his God-fearing.
«36»- al-Durra al-Bahira: Abu al-Hasan the Third, peace be upon him, said: Ignorance and miserliness are the most blameworthy of characters.
