Elucidation: perhaps what is meant by the innate is what he has derived by his understanding and his sound thought, in the principles and the branches, from the rational and the transmitted proofs. And sometimes the innate is restricted to the principles and the heard to the branches.
«46»- nhj, the Nahj al-Balagha: He said, peace be upon him: People are the enemies of what they are ignorant of.
«47»- And he said, peace be upon him: Do not be like the rude ones of the Jahiliyya, neither gaining understanding in religion nor understanding concerning God — like the shells of eggs in ostrich-nests, the breaking of which is a burden of sin, while the hatching of them brings forth evil.
Elucidation: al-qayd is the shell of the egg; and al-adahi is the plural of al-udhiyya, which is the laying-place of the ostrich in the sand. And the bird hadana its egg, hadnan and hidanan: it drew it to itself beneath its wing for hatching. And it is said that the aim is the likening to the eggs of vipers found in the nest of an animal, which cannot be broken because of the possibility of their being from a lawful animal; and if they are left, vipers come forth from them. So likewise are these: if they are left, they become satans who lead people astray; and they cannot be killed, because of the outward of Islam. And the completion of the discourse and its commentary will come in the Book of the Trials.

«48»- nhj, the Nahj al-Balagha: in his testament to al-Hasan, peace be upon him: Plunge into the depths unto the truth wherever it may be, and gain understanding in religion — down to his words, peace be upon him: And understand my testament, and do not turn away from it in disregard; for the best of speech is what profits. And know that there is no good in a knowledge that does not profit, nor is profit had from a knowledge whose learning is not right — down to his words, peace be upon him: And that I should begin with you by the teaching of the Book of God, mighty and majestic, and of its interpretation, and of the laws of Islam and its rulings and its lawful and its unlawful; I do not pass beyond that with you to anything else.
«49»- The Kanz of al-Karajuki: The Messenger of God — may God bless him and his family — said: Five do not gather save in one who is truly a believer, for whom God makes the Garden obligatory by them: the light in the heart, and understanding in Islam, and scrupulousness in religion, and affection among people, and goodness of bearing in the face.
«50»- And he — may God bless him and his family — said: Knowledge is more than can be numbered, so take of everything the best of it.
«51»- And from it: Luqman said to his son: O my son, learn wisdom and you will be ennobled; for wisdom points to religion, and ennobles the slave above the freeman, and raises the poor man above the rich, and advances the small above the great, and seats the poor man in the assemblies of kings, and increases the noble in nobility, and the master in mastery, and
